Fantastic professor!! I appreciate the different methods of teaching, employing discussion, lecture, projects, presentations, readings, etc. Dr. Ward was very engaging & sought out participation from her students. I really appreciate the enthusiasm Dr. Ward has for both the subject matter and for her students.

Even if your are a serious philosophy student, this class is impossible to do well in. Go in for office hours every day before class so she can explain the material to you. I ended up dropping...

Struggles to explain concepts with clarity. Better off reading the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy online. Capricious grading. Unreasonable grading scale (96% is the cut off for an A). Appears to be looking for route regurgitation of lecture content. Most disappointingly is disempowering. Cannot recommend class.

This is a hard class for a core. Dr. Ward's grading scale is skewed where to get an A- is an 92% so a 90% is considered a B+ which in my opinion is not fair at all. I was able to get a B but I went to every class and did every reading assignment. Tests are not crazy stressful though, she gives you the prompts before the midterm and final

Her syllabus covers a lot of material, you're reading about 20-40 pages for each class. Don't procrastinate the readings. Two tests, a midterm and final, and her grading makes no sense/is very tough; she practically expects you to be Socrates on the tests. One 9-page term paper and a several HW assignments that are easy points. Would take again!

Nice lady, but not the best professor out there. She is very passionate about philosophy, but tends to go off tangent. She bases the answers to her quizzes and tests off her own notes and opinions that she interpreted from the texts. Quizzes are tricky and will lower your grade, summaries are creditno credit. Would not recommend her.

Here's the thing about Dr. Ward... she really wants you to learn HER viewpoint. Which not be desired for a tier 1 ethics course. A very passionate professor in her field, but lectures are fast and almost never posted. I'm prepping for the final as we speak, and sadly looking back we spent little time in class on the material for the essays. 210

Dr. Ward is nice and always wants student to come to office hours for help. But Her expectations are too high and a 92% is a B in her class. There are 2 exams; Midterm and Final, Summaries (creditno credit) after each book, and really tricky online quizzes. Lot's of reading too, but we discuss it in class so you don't always have to read.

If you like philosophy, DO NOT TAKE HER. She seems to enjoy what she is talking about, but is VERY biased and she really expects you to write in detail what she thinks or had said in class. Uses "tricky" questions as in adding an 's' to a word (??). + she does not know how to explain; she would tell you you are wrong, but would not tell you WHY

I thought Dr. Ward was a good professor. She always gave us a study guide before a quiz/test and if you study it you should be able to get at least a B (I usually got an A). The class isn't by any means fun but it was tolerable. Many of my friends with other philosophy professors had to work a lot harder.

If you're a philosophy major, Dr. Ward is perfect for you. A very challenging class indeed, simply because the quizzes and tests solely consist of essay questions. However, if you show up to class and take notes, you can get the A. I recommend her only if you're willing to work hard for your grade.

I'm not entirely sure how I passed this class. Ward is the most inconsistent grader I have ever had. On every exam I felt the same amount of confidence, yet I received grades from 30% to 95%. She seems to have very narrow expectations of what she expects from your writing. The essay exams are also timed; most students finish barely in time.

I found this class pretty easy. It's not particularly interesting, by any means, but if you show up and take notes, you can pass. She usually sends an email teling you what to study for tests, but I got A's on al of them without studying. She's very nice if you go to talk to her.

Do not take this teacher unless your good at writing exactly what she wants to hear. She's very boring. She is the only teacher who has detailed notes and refuses to put them online. This is problematic because she moves really fast and does't explain well at all. She grades really hard too. Stay away if you want good grades with minimal effort

She gives impossible quizzes...is very unhelpful with the paper you need to write and keeps short office hours. She is not flexible with answers or time for questions. She is passionate about Phil. so if you really enjoy it you might do well. Requires a lot of reading, not what I wanted when I signed up for an ethics course!

The class is based only on 100 points, so the few assignments given are crucial. Weekly quizzes are given and are quite tricky. Gives a midterm, final and one paper- all essay. If you do not write what she wants, then you will not do well. She's definitely a nice lady and means well. You must go to her office hours for participation.

Took my laptop to every class to keep myself entertained. Beyond frustrating. I got a 4/5 on a quiz because my answer was 'free to do as one pleases' instead of 'free to do as one wants' even though every other part of that answer was correct, I got it marked wrong. Could be interesting class but definitely NOT with her.

you don't REALLY need to read anything and most of the texts can be found online. take home midterm, a few summaries, 'discussion', term paper, and a final which wasnt terrible. she's kind of a strange one, but it might work for her. not sure i learned all too much though.
