I personally loved this class. It was pretty easy and he's really helpful. The day before the test he has a review and that's really helpful too. There's not that much homework either.

He is a really nice guy but he is not the best professor. He doesn't explain things very well and gets frustrated if you don't understand the material right away. The only grades you get are from tests, quizzes, and homework so it is hard to bring your grade up if you do poorly on tests.

Let me start of by saying he is an intelligent man, but the way he teaches is very hard to understand. Expect to spend a lot of time outside of class studying and going to the larc for help, because the class is a big messy lecture. He is all over the place. His tests are extremely hard, little time and with no study guides.

He isn't very clear & goes on tangents very often. I often have to use what I learned in high school, because he doesn't teach the material very well. On the other hand, the material really isn't that hard, like I said its mainly high school stuff. Make sure you come to class because he gives you extra credit for attendance & for asking questions.

He confuses him self and does not have the right answer. He wrote his own text book and there are a lot of errors in the work. He hosts study sessions and he provides no help what so ever.

Comment:
If you are a student who loves to ask questions and want more clarity on a specific math problem DO NOT take this professor. He is more of lecturing the class than actually teaching the math problems which makes it very difficult to understand anything he teaches. He forgets a lot and on his exams doesn't give the right formula sheets.

He is the worst math teacher ever. I have never done so bad in a math class, until I took his class. He gets upset and acts like a 3 year old when you ask questions or you correct him. He never has the correct answer the a problem, he always has to erase all his work and start over. DO NOT HAVE HIM AS YOUR PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never had a problem with a math class until this class. He is very unorganized and forgets so much stuff. If you really like teaching yourself then go ahead and take this class. But if not I really don't recommend him, if there is another professor choose that professor before choosing him.

I never had any confusion in this course. Before this course I hated math and always struggled to understand but his teaching methods are great and he makes the material make sense. He's also a hilarious guy, enjoyed coming to class every day. Do yourself a favor and don't skip, the power points are okay but easier to understand in person.

Confusing. That's the only thing I can say about him. He doesn't make any sense when going over material, but it's a good thing that he puts his power points on D2L or I wouldn't pass.

Dr. Jerlach is a very intelligent person and interesting person. However, he isn't a very effective teacher. He often lectures from his notes with very little variation. Quite honestly, I rarely came away from class with any reasonable understanding of how to do the assigned homework. I basically had to teach myself the material.

He's a really nice professor but he's a total clutterhead. He forgets about powerpoints he needs to make and he isn't very clear. His tests are straightforward as long as you practice the material alone, but he also offers extra credit and curves the final. He also drops low homework grades. Overall he's funny and nice but teach yourself

Basically, an easy A. Everything is fairly intuitive and there is not much effort needed to comprehend the material. Dr. Gerlach explains everything well and he sets expectations that are fairly easy to meet. His test are not difficult. It is 251 after all, it cannot be too hard of a class.

He gives extra credit on tests if you show up to every class, You'll need it. Does not do a good job teaching the material. If I didn't already know a good portion of the material being taught I would have failed. Do not take him (unless Yang is the only other option cause he's even worse)

Professor Gerlach is a good guy. A little rude to people who don't apply themselves or are just not working hard enough on the class. Just do you work and show up to every class and you should do fine.

I think that if you are used to being babied through a class you will have a little trouble in this one. If you are a responsible student then you will have no problem with this guy. He is great and willing to help as much as you need. He is as entertaining as anybody teaching calculus to a bunch of people who hate the class could be.

Hes crazy smart, total math nerd. Hes nice and will help. He wants the class to interact but come on its calc... its hard to have fun and get involved. Make sure you ask him questions in class if you don't get something because he will skip steps on the board and leave you totally lost. And I liked his accent

Gerlach is the worst teacher off all time! He does not care about his student's. He can't explain and has a big ego. If the whole class does bad on an assignment its our fault not his! Not to mention he has the worst sence of humor in the world. This teacher is boring and to be blunt useless!
