Comment:

I took this class back in 2008, way before writing as a practicing engineer. The problem's not with Kalo, who taught well and gave fair grades. The problem's with NU scientists and engineers, who are used to curves but write like they're in middle school. Kalo's just not willing to align a B with that level of writing.

Hardest, most useless teacher I've ever had. For starters her grading system is ridiculous; if you go "above and beyond" she calls that a C. During one assignment 8/14 kids got an F, 3 got a D and the rest got a C yet we ALL did the work. Avoid taking her class if at all possible. She does not care about you and refused kids assistance when asked.

WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD AT NORTHEASTERN! NEVER TAKE HER CLASS. I am a straight A student and I got a B in this class. I worked so hard for the best grade possible and I feel like it was all for nothing. She offers NO help whatsover. No solid grades on where you stand. TERRIBLE Professor. Kalo is the WORST professor I've had in 3 years at a university of mediocre professors. Stickler for the menial, very haughty, loads of confusing & overlapping assignments, ridiculous grading "system" (calling it a system is an overstatement) we'd like to throw fruit at her. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU TAKE MIDDLER WRITING WITH KALO CLARKE.

I have not learned anything to improve my writing in her class! I love to write so it says something about her that this is my least favorite class. She wants you to write HER way, and has these tedious assignments all the time, which she does not explain well. She tells you to be a consice writer but has 15+ pages for you to print fpr every class!

Kalo Clarke is hands-down the worst Teacher I have ever had. Kalo gives paragraphs of overly wordy directions that could be condensed in one or two sentences. This leaves the student with a bunch of jumbled words and a growing level of frustration that nearly explodes by the end of this course. Also- she gives you NO feedback, just the grade.WASTE

She was great! She's funny and real easy going. The class wasn't very hard at all. I was a little worried about the bad reviews she got but I'm glad I stayed in her class. I would def recommend Kalo for middler writing!

I took her middler year writing for business class. She is the quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. I get straight As, I got an A- in her class, but it was a horrible and daunting experience. Probably the biggest waste of my life to date. Very Difficult Class!

`In her world, she's an artsy, concise, and impeccibly time-managed individual. To everyone else, she is rude, brusque, hopelessly lazy snob. Like many others, I was shocked at my grade. She provided almost no feedback throughout the course, and when she did, it was boilerplate (everyone had the same feedback). A terrible experience!

She's not helpful and she pulls grades out of nowhere. Her handouts are riddled with mistakes, her assignments aren't clear, and frequently the directions for what you're supposed to write about will vary depending on where you look (blackboard or a class handout). She's also a snot. If you have her, drop her class. Wish I had.

I really wanted to like this class and teacher, but I just couldn't. The class was ok, good for a summer class, only met twice a week. Kalo is not a good professor however, her feedback is seriously lacking, usually she'll just write something like "how?" on something you really strained to include everything. Not a fan.
