Very good class, probably learned the most out of all the classes I've taken in college. The exams are no joke, require a lot of reading (study groups help a lot). The trials were a lot of fun. The class may be a somewhat hard, but hey, it's a 300 level course. She really knows her stuff, I loved this class.

Comment:

Karen is probably the best professor I've had at Miami. She is everything a professor should be: experienced, knowledgeable, approachable, understanding, intimidating, and engaging. She expects the most out of you and won't settle for less. I've learned more than any other class I've taken at Miami. If you're prepared to work hard, it will pay off.

Her Havinghurst Seminar is an interesting class and I greatly benefited from it. Just a warning she is a Grammar Nazi and expects you to write a lot of paper. But, definitely worth taking the class with her.

I cannot sing Karen's praises enough. In my opinion, the most knowledgeable prof in Miami's poli sci department, but understands that you are new to the subject matter. Very approachable and became a good friend of mine.

Fantastic professor. Among the best at Miami, especially in the political science department. She knows a ton about Russian politics and conducts class in a fun manner. The mock trials were really fun. Put in some effort and you will do great in class. Very approachable and friendly and concerned about how you're doing in class.

Karen is the bees-knees. This was by far one of my best learning experiences at Miami. Dawisha wants you to learn the subject matter. Her lectures were solid and informative. You need to read a lot for this class and get serious. For the course, she is approachable, incredibly informative, and grades fairly.

Awesome professor! I learned so much from this class. The the grade consisted of three exams and three mock stage trials of Russian leaders. Great for any pre-law or Russian focused student. Overall Dawisha makes learning fun again!
