I understand opinions will differ between class lectures and private lessons but I know that for lessons she's absolutely great. Main thing: I play better now. You do have to take command to some extent in lessons. Be ready to consistently check your own progress as you won't always have strict deadlines beyond juries. Overall awesome teacher.

I loved this course. I thought that the music variety was great. I learned alot and improved my technique and expression. Dr. Follingstad is the best! She has SO much knowledge and experience that I feel very grateful to be studying with her.

Follingstad is the best teacher! I absolutely love being a student of hers. It is very apparent that she has a deep love for music and enjoys what she does. She's always so enthusiastic and "into" the music. It is very inspiring to be in her class. She helps all of us even thought some of us are less skilled.A very understanding and caring teacher.

Gosh, she seems to care a lot about my progress, but why does she keep blaming me for her mistakes? she seems to have a gift for blaming things on you. Also, I dont feel any better at the piano. If she's so great, why is this happening? I do what she says, and I get A's every lesson, but I still feel like I have my old bad habits. Im switching soon

She was so disorganized and condescending. In the last class before our final she said we were going to "review" but she actually gave us a bunch of new material. Has obvious favorites and makes everyone else miserable. I would avoid her at all costs!

I enjoyed being in her class, she was very upbeat and passionate about piano which is not easy to do in front of an 110 A class. The course was not easy but if you do the work and consistently practice then you'd do well.

She is a great teacher... has such a passion. She is scattered though. Maybe she is just spread to thin, and needs a better dayplanner. I was frustrated with her apparent lack of interest, however after a few lessons with her... I see such a wonderful resource before me, and hopefully will learn a ton. My biggest beef is that I am a very punctual person, I am an older student with a family to take care of. I cant just reschedule on a dime because my prof is late or misses a class. She is wonderful though.

I love this class and this teacher! Her enthusiasm and love for music is infectuous. This course gives valuable experience in score reading and duet playing, and I am actually able to read and transpose in clefs more easily after a couple of semesters.
