Comment:

She is nice and understanding about extenuating circumstances. She is quite specific in the syllabus about what she expects on assignments. The workload was reasonable, but assigning 60 pages to read along with limiting the summarizing assignment to 2.5 pages struck me as impractical. She gives good feedback but takes a while to grade.

I took Popular Culture in the Media as an online summer course. Prof. does not exhibit mastery of required technology for an online class. The modules were very obviously constructed some years ago and not updated. Prof. entirely absent from all discussion boards. If you have trouble reading lots of outdated articles on a screen, don't take class.

Having Honeycutt for an online class was frustrating. She gives you an overwhelming amount of material as "instructions" for each week that takes an hour to read itself. My biggest complaint is that she is passive aggressive in all of these instructions with way too much capslock and highlighting. I did thoroughly enjoy the material though.

take this class with ANOTHER professor. she was not nice, her emails were so rude. If you miss class she send you a rude email. Her quizzes were impossible. I do not like her at all.

I love this woman. I've taken several classes with her already. Her teaching style is geared towards prompting you towards your own realizations about the material, which is fabulous. I personally find her classes to not be overly challenging (just lots of work), but I know that others do not. She respects participation and excellent writing.

I had her for ITW and she was very rude. She doesn't give back any graded assignments and is completely unorganized. I always dreaded going to her 3 1/2 classes. Don't take her class.

Had her for Soc Theory and she basically taught the textbook to the class which was actually very useful. I had dreaded theory but she explained everything step by step and did in class exercises to help clarify material. We had to do three essays for the whole course and from about ten topics that we could pick from and both exams were take home.

This class was relatively easy if you did the readings and showed up for class. We had a handful of take home quizzes, a couple short papers, and one five minute presentation. The readings were relatively interesting but the class seemed kind of repetitive and we talked about a lot of the same things over the semester. Overall a decent class.

Honeycutt is a very unorganized teacher. She has a very unclear grading process and often is unfair. She however knows a lot about women's studies and makes you think a lot. I learned a lot of interesting things in her class and watched a lot of cool videos. She loves to waste paper. There is no final. There is many take home quizzes and papers.

Have taken 3 classes with Prof. H. - pop cult., methods, and now intro. to women's studies. Don't understand the rude remarks - have never had ANY problem with her. LOTS of work but you will learn a ton. If she's not clear, ASK HER for help. Because of her I majored in soc.!

Karen Honeycutt is an amazing teacher. She is one of the best professors I have ever had here at Keene State. She is incredibly passionate about her work and her students. She will help you with any problem. Be aware however, her expectatiosn are high so be prepared to work!
