Comment:
Karen is probably one of the worst professors at uMaine. She expects people to be professional and polite, but doesn't hold herself to the same standards. She is very difficult to get along with and is difficult to learn from. She has about 6 months of experience in the field, but a lifetime of experience of thinking she is above everyone else.....

Lectures are useless and hard to follow. If you ask a question she doesn't know the answer to she will either make something up that makes things more confusing or just berate the student. Not very helpful whatsoever.

Comment:
Karen spends the begining of most classes complaining about how she doesnt get paid enough. Once the lecture gets started, most students are completely lost. Buy the textbook because you will learn twice as much from it than listening to her stupid rambling everyday. She is rude to students, and this is why students don't respect her.

Incredibly confusing in lectures and she gets angry when you ask her a question. And if more than 1 person is confused, all hell breaks loose. Cant believe karen gets paid for this. Id be better off with an English proffessor teaching me

Not sure why karen can't answer a question from her students. Her "answers" are politician like and often leave you more confused than when you asked. A simple yes or no would be nice.

After having Karen for 4 years here at Umaine, I can say that she is the worst professor I've had. Lectures are extremely confusing. Her organization skills are lacking. She is rude to students and doesn't seem to understand that it might be her fault when students can't understand her teaching. It's too bad the MET dep. Can't hire someone else.

The things that she teaches has nothing to do with the major. I would not recommend taking MET 100 with her, it is not a Pre-req for anything and just works with Excel and other dumb things.

She talks down to students when they don't understand a concept that she didn't teach right, which makes it no fun to attend. She's never in a good mood, relates everything back to herself, and is rude to students. Too bad she teaches required classes for the MET program.

Horton is a horrible professor. Not only does she give ENTIRELY WAY TO MUCH WORK for a 100 level course, but she is a "you know what" the entire semester. She has no patience, and she will test yours. She will assign a TON of work, and give you the worst directions you have ever read. In all honesty, she is the worst professor in the MET program!

Not one person likes or respects whorton in any way. She chews gum during lecture, and makes dumb jokes, is rude with students, but maintains no one send her a 'unprofessional' email. The text was almost as useless as her. At least with the book, you could burn it and get away with it. She's the best representation of a hypocrite I can think of.

Comment:
Horton often goes on about unrelated material and physiological rambling that make class extremely difficult to pay atention. She doesnt cover very much material because she gets herself confused or she returns to prerequisite material. As far as the comment about not having a degree in teaching, that was her first degree, she also has a ME degree.

She's just obnoxious and rambles on with her dumb laugh... she never notices nobody else finds her funny. Very eccentric, and not in the kooky, fun way. You'll hate her, be glad this course is required!
