I loved Karen. She was so laid back, down to earth and poetic! I learned a LOT from her classes. The exercises in the intro to fiction class were great. Much better than the teacher who visited after her, in my opinion.

I took creative writing with her a couple of years ago, and I'm now at another school. We still write back and forth. She taught me a lot about being a writer and I'm glad I took her classes (more than one of them).

I enjoyed Dr. McElmurray's classes immensely. As far as I know she was only on for two years as a writer-in-residence but she would have made a valuable permanent addition to Berry. She demonstrated far more patience with some writers than I would have.

I had her for creative writing and world literature. She had several interesting and unconventional novels for us to read in world lit, a great break from anthologies. I also found her very friendly, understanding, and helpful.

Karen is wonderful. The two people who sad she was poor on the list were probably offended that she tried to help them with their poor writing. I think Berry made an incredible error in letting this professor go
