Nicholas is a brilliant woman who teaches a tough class, but she's also very helpful and any student having trouble or needing advice will not be blown off by her. Take her classes if you're up for a challenge.

Hardest 100 level class ever! Showed videos of herself teaching class from like 20 years ago and loves watching herself talk and brags about her 1year old grandson being a genius. Had to memorize like 100 people and 5 things they did for the midterm and final. Ended up with a C. Do not take take with her!

I can write alot faster now. She goes on about the subject and doesn't take a breath. She can't hear though so don't bother asking questions in the middle of class. She did know her stuff though. 3 essays, 2 tests, all equally 20%. It was a decent class.

Karen Nicholas Absolute and utter joke of a human being. She flashes around her degree from Brown university and she can shove it. Worse calss i have even taken because her teaching and grading style is just ridiculous. If you email her she will just ridicule you and basically say be smarter. Dont take this class with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She does not treat the class like it is a 100 level course. She will put up the same slides nearly every class, and most of them have nothing to do with what we are learning about. When she actually does say something important its in medieval language that nobody understands from the 21st century. Bad teacher

She is incredibly intelligent, but her class is near impossible to follow. It's not even the fact that she doesn't have slides, it's the fact that she rambles on and it makes it impossible to decipher the facts from the random jibberesh. She grades papers fairly, but her test require the most pinpoint details ever. Nice lady, bad teacher.

absolutely the most abysmal professor ever. I am a history major and i have a C in her class. She barely teaches anything of any relevance and grades paper harder than my english 102 professor did. If you take a class with this woman you may or may not want to kill yourself.

Rarely puts notes up and if she does, they aren't up long enough to write down. When she lectures, it's near impossible to take notes from because she talks too fast and is impossible to decipher the important information from the useless facts. I think she forgot this is a 100 level course.

Dr. Nicholas is a great woman with a big heart that truly loves to teach. If you want an easy A run like hell, if you want to learn take her class. She is a brilliant woman and expects excellent work for an A, on the same note her class is passable even if you don't put in a lot of time and effort, but you will get a C, as you should.

I don't think she realizes that that this is a 100 level class. Shows powerpoints from the 90s that just have pictures while she talks about everything and everything. It's nearly impossible to take notes in her class because she is terrible at explaining, and if you ask a question she can't hear you. The Midterm is ridiculously hard, 3 papers

Extremely well educated medievalist, the only in her field at Oswego. Her hearing is indeed going but she's very willing to help students. Expects in depth knowledge of the subject for tests and work. Enjoys being intellectually challenged by students who articulately argue against her. Has a passion for her work

She is an awful teacher.She can't hear at all, so she never answers anyones questions. More then half of the time she plays movies of HER lecturing. she is just lazy. You have to write 3 papers which are all 5-10 pages, so they are not bad..but the midterm was very hard. BORING CLASS & BAD TEACHER!!!

Haha! I laughed throughout her entire class. She says things and I'm like what?! She is very smart we hear a lot about her academic career!Can't hear, at all, she can't really work her laptop-she loses the cursor. I love her clothing style and sneakers. She puts in a movie and sneaks off to her office and naps-one time she returned with McDonalds..

AVOID HER! She's something else. She sits in front of the class and rambles on more about her own academic career than the topic she's supposed to be teaching. She's also nearly def so having a meaningful conversation with her is almost impossible. The only up side to this class was that there's no attendance policy.

This is a really good class, and she is a very smart person. It is difficult in some ways, you have to be able to take really good notes. I had to work really hard and I'm still not getting A's, however it is a good class, and she's one of the best in her field.

i took his100 312 313 314 and 416 with her and she is my advisor. i love dr nicholas, she is a very great person when you are in a one on one with her. she is extremely helpful and also willing to help if you have any troubles whether academically or personally. she is an overall great woman.

The best class ever!!!NO attendance required, no participation required! Only 3 papers, and three exams (the study guides are really helpful). Very helpful and smart professor. If you only want to listen to the professor take this class!!!!
