When I first saw her at orientation, I was inspired. BUT, that's very different from how I experienced her in class. She definitely talks a lot, but it's not really a problem and gives interesting art tricks too, but what irked me was her grading. During critics, she'd say the art piece is flawless, but her grading would be completely different.

Karen is the sweetest human. She truly cares about the students and their success. She wants to do right by everyone and she has a lot of knowledge in the Illustration field. She is also a fine arts person, but her heart is in illustration. I wish she taught second year and above because having her both semesters brightened my first year of FIT

She is a star! She talks a lot and sometimes I wish she can be more critical of students' works but does give very helpful feedback if you listen closely. Projects are fun. Honestly one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of encountering. If you reach out to her, she will walk you through everything! LOVE her!

One of the best if not the best teacher at FIT. Changes things up and keeps the class interesting. Sure she’ll complement your work all day, but listen carefully to her critiques, they are helpful and will make you a better artist.

Loves to talk and can talk a whole mile, but you'll like it. Her teaching method is very interesting and she's very delicated. She's VERY understanding and helps you as much as possible. I totally have fun in her class and look forward to it every week. You also get to do fun stuff like coloring the background of your artwork.

very encouraging.. always finds something good to say yet helpd you improve. very patient woman despite an annoying student in our class. interesting personal style. highly talented artist. inspirational to me. she tries to help you in your personal goals whether youre taking the class for fun, a porfoilio, work, credit etc.
