I love Dr. Simpkins. People always complain about her teaching style, but if you really throw yourself into the papers you learn a whole lot. She knows so much, and yeah, her lectures are somewhat random, but I think she's wonderful. Her classes make you think

I have never heard anyone talk about the most random stuff in my entire life. So after you are done being lectured on Bali, Thanksgiving, and Um Um Um Um, then you probably would rather shoot yourself than go to this class. She never comes to class and never sends an email saying she will not be there. She grades so random, SHE SUCKS!

Yeah, don't take this class. She says "um" way too much for you to understand anything she is trying to say, and she grades so randomly...you might get a D, you might get an A, it just depends on who you are and her mood. Plus, class is always cancelled, so you don't learn a thing. She's not mean but she is not a good teacher at all.

She is really interesting, but you cannot follow her lectures because she bounces around too much. She tells you what to study for the test, and as long as you read the Humanity book and Cultural Mosaic, then you can pass her tests. You won't get them back in a timely fashion though.

Okay guys she is old take it easy! I hated the class. really I did, but it is a matter of knowing how to be a good college student. Class is always cancelled, I have learned nothing, but I still have a freaking A in her class. That means its not too hard. She didn't help me or teach me anything at all, but I did get a real kick out of taking her class. She lectured about the structure of sandwiches in different cultures, how to cut out the curves when you're driving and her obsession with bali, but i guess that makes life more interesting.

This woman is absolutely insane. I was in her class for a week and transferred out of it. She isnt really hard, but she is so boring and so confusing. She will start a sentence, and then just stop and totally chnage the subject. This woman really needs to retire. I dont recommend her. Take Dr. Scott for Anthro201 instead!

She's not great as a lecturer, but she's still a very good teacher. I've learned a lot in her class. She encourages people to prompt themselves to learn, she's not going to lead you by the hand. Which really helps prepare you for graduate school. (That's a good thing.) Just don't take her for the intro course, and you should be fine.

I LOVE Dr. Simpkins. She's a nut--but in a good way. She knows so much and if you work you'll learn a whole lot. I think people don't like her b/c she gives assignments and then lets you go in any direction you want--she gives you basic requirements but wants creativity. If you put in the effort you'll get an A for sure. She's a great teacher!

Dr. Simpkins is a wonderful teacher. What other teacher makes you laugh everyday? She was very helpful and nice to me and I made an A in her class. I found her class quite fascinating. Take her if you need an International course or if you have an interest in a cultural course.

I loved Ecological Anthropology. It was fun. The class really wasn't hard. I have had many classes from Dr. Simpkins and I have enjoyed all of them. I like the fact that she makes you think about culture and other things without you relizing that you are learning about another culture. The stories do have a lot of cultural significance.

Though there is probably no way to fail this class, there is also no way to learn in it. Though I've now been educated in episodes of Seseame Street, ice dancing, what country has the best beer, and whether or not you can make a muff out of a dead cat, i still have no clue what anthropology is. However I made an easy B, so I don't care.
