Comment:
Dovermann's lectures are almost straight from the textbook. His examples are heavily proof based and can be hard to follow. If you want to pass the class, you need to teach yourself outside of class. Homework is due every class, tests are graded harshly, but he does curve in the end.

Comment:
Professor Dovermann teaching style is the typical lecture straight from the book. Tests are extremely hard, and grading is very, very harsh. He curves at the end of the class, but not by much. If you need to pass this class, I would urge you to take another professor if possible. There is no reason to put yourself through unnecessary stress.

The Summer Session 2016 was excellent! I learned a lot! There were not many students so it was easy to get one on one time to really understand the complicated material.

Dr. Dovermann is one of the best professors in the math department! Gives previous exams, and test are extremely straightforward and simple. If you take his class during the summer you won't regret it. Easy A and worth the summer tuition fee!

The class is hard, and he doesn't seem approachable, but he's one of the most caring professors I've met so far. He takes his time to explain questions we don't understand, and make sure that everyone who's doing their best understands the topic. He's very funny, and a professor who really cares about his students to say the least.

There is homework every class, due by the next class. The homework is a small portion of the class, but what really matters is the exams. There were 2 midterms and a final. Style of teaching requires that you read and attempt to learn on your own, and use his lectures as amplifying information.

Mein Vater is beast! He is tough. Read/Worship the book, and do all of the homework. If you cannot do a problem ask him about it in office hours and he will be more than glad to work it with you. He is always available, and always willing to help. Very fair grader and provides previous exams. I wish more professors conducted their classes like his.

Quite a challenging professor. If you want to learn more than the usual, take him. He's a really nice guy in person and willing to help. Grading can be harsh though and lectures can become quickly confusing if you're not keeping up. A lot of outside practice and studying is a good idea.

requires reading textbook chapters before lectures He teaches well and does lots of examples on the board - assumes you have strong algebra, geometry and trig skills and have read the assigned chapter prior to class. He moves quickly through the material-homework everyday required. He's very willing to help. Nice guy, knows his stuff. Good curve

One word: brutal. His lectures were difficult because he expects students to know everything in advance. He is helpful during office hours though. Homework is due every lecture and the grading is harsh. Also, his exams were impossible to pass, but with his massive cure, I managed to score an above average grade. By the way, he uses "uhhhh" a lot.

3rd time taking a math course from Dovermann. Greatest guy ever. Know his materials by heart, really loves math, and enojoys teaching. Classes are hard of course, he expects you to know a lot more than any other math professor. But in the end you won't regret taking a class from him. (p.s. go drink some beer with him after grades are posted!)

Attendance points every day, online homework & hand-in homework, but not due every class. I got a tutor to reteach me things we went over in class cause Dovermann is unclear. he expects students to know everything he's talking about.

He is difficult to comprehend as he jumps around concepts. What makes this class so difficult is that he does not cover basic calculus and does not clearly explain how the math we are doing are related to business and the real world. He wants us to learn concept but 90% is just memorizing formulas and his methods. He's a genuinely nice guy though.

Does not explain material well at all. Gets off track from the book so attendance is pretty much mandatory. Homework everyday that is and tests that are graded harshly. Curve helps. Must have previous knowledge of linear systems and ODE's

This professor has a really thick accent. His exams are based off his lectures which are hard to follow unless you've had prior experience with calculus. He grades on a curve though. That's the only good thing about the class. Other than that, take nrem203. Avoid this professor. Sincerely, a former 4.0 student :(

Perhaps the hardest math class I've ever taken, but also the most math I've ever learned. Lectures were hard, but he definitely knows his stuff and gives fair exams. I was able to get an A even though I only had a 70 on the final. You will need to do a lot of individual studying outside of class to do well.
