The best CS professor I have ever had! He is very helpful and is always ready to help you either in class or outside. If you need help and send him an email he will respond you even in midnight! His grading policy is amazing. You just have to participate in every class, and do your assignments, tests do not really matter... He is amazing!!!

Tough to say. Lots of homework. textbook and reading are a must. He wants you to explain your answers on the quizzes so he knows what to cover in further detail, yet he never actually covered anything. If you asked a question on his blog, he would respond with help quickly which was nice. I am sure his class would be good in person, not online.

Comment:

One of the best in the university, and the best in the department, which is why he is the chair(last I checked) Its a shame he does not teach more of the crucial CS courses which are taught by professors who you can hardly understand and are not as helpful or clear as Wurst is. Easy to reach, one of the friendliest in the university. Recommended!

I failed his class, but that may have been because I didn't do enough of the homework. No papers to write, just study for his tests and do the assignments. Wasn't an outstanding teacher, kind of boring and messed up while trying to explain things to students sometimes.

Professor Wurst is VERY helpful. Contacting him is easy (provided you title your emails correctly) and I always get a response within 24 hours. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and is always happy to assist you or give you an extension when you're having trouble. Just be willing to put in the effort.

Professor Wurst was great when I took him for CS 135, but I took him for CS 140 and struggled the whole time. Granted, I don't really have programming experience, but this is supposed to be an entry level course and it was very, VERY challenging. Attending every class didn't help. Wouldn't really recommend.

Professor Wurst is pretty good. He knows what he's talking about and explains it in a clear way. However, do NOT expect him to reply to emails because he just doesn't. I emailed him 4 times and I still haven't gotten a response. He was good about it in the beginning of the semester and then just stopped. Other than that fact, he's not bad.

I have never programmed before and this course was the first time ever that I ever programmed. This professor in my opinion is horrible, I don't understand anything he teachers at all. I go to class everyday and still don't know what's going on. He teaches like everyone in the class knows how to program. I taught myself everything and still lost.

Very helpful and smart professor, I would highly recommend because he will do all he can to see his students succeed, very reachable via e-mail and other communication platforms, enthusiastic about the course material and will make people who cant program become knowledgeable about the subject. Be prepared for exam days; they aren't so easy.

Online class - was not what I thought it would be. It was all about ethics, not study of technology in urban society. LOTS of writing, but he is a fair grader and responsive as well. No participation in discussions whatsoever! All in all it was alot of work for a distribution requirement, but it was okay.
