Kate is awesome! I had her for Arts of Africa, and you can tell she is really invested in the subject and wants to teach you all she can. Is great at getting the class involved in discussions and makes you feel that what you have to say is valuable. The only downside is if you're not a great test-taker, there's only 2 tests.

Kate is absolutely brilliant. She is rightfully the dean of the newly formed Art history department. Her art & ritual class, which was new this term, gave anthro insight into every day practice, and also, contemporary theory. very passionate, demanding, funny, but extraordinary. demands a mature student, and frankly not enough of those at columbia!

She is an awsome teacher, really wants you to pass the class. they really likes art history, but I think she is starting to forget some stuff, she sure says um a lot ! sit in the front row so you can stay awake. I really liked her better then other art hist. teacher.

Arts of Africa was a fascinating class. This is Kate's area of interest and she brings a lot of personal experince to the study of African art. The class exposes you to what the world is only starting to appreciate in art.

Yeah shes nice and knows everything about art. However - she dwells on every slide and is really really boring. SNOOZE. Also has much harder tests and gives more assignments than other teachers of the same course.

AMAZING art history class. The notes and discussions are easy to follow. Kate has a great personality and really wants you to do well in the class. The tests are clear and based entirely on notes and handouts. I loved this class!

Kate has made ARt History I a wonderful experience. She is passionate and energetic...it doesnt'even feel like a lecture class, its more like a group discussion of art.
