Comment:

Professor Islam is the best. His method of taking attendance is by random "in-class problems" which are essentially quizzes, easy 3/3 if you pay attention in class. His tests are old homework problems, so although homework isn't mandatory, do it if you want to do well on the tests. His accent is awesome and he is super funny and willing to help!

Comment:

Islam is a very interesting teacher. He explains everything very thoroughly although his tests have very few problems on them so if you don't know the material you won't do well. It's much easier if you've already taken calculus.

Comment:

Professor Islam's lectures are very clear, he's definitely the best math teacher I've ever had. His tests are hard (of course, I mean it's calculus) but manageable. Some of the test questions are very difficult and don't reflect what we learn in lecture. He's a really sweet man and I plan to take him for MTH169! Would definitely recommend for MTH168.

Dr. Islam shared a beautiful anecdote with us about integration. He recounted how a friend of his in Bangladesh who'd always considered himself spontaneously believed in God the moment he grasped integration. I've never forgotten that story though he told it to my Calc. class nearly 30 years ago.

Professor Islam is good teacher. In class he explain really simple and easy questions, but in the test he surprises you with the most hardest questions you will ever see. He was an easy professor before, but when he heard that he was easy he got angry and turned to be a hard professor.

Professor Islam was one of the best math teachers I have taken. He is a hilarious dude, and he teaches a good class. If you pay attention in class and do the optional homework problems, you'll do fine. Two "mini-tests", a midterm, and a final. Great professor!

He is good professor. The only problem is that when he explain the lessons in the classes it is too easy, but in the tests the problems are too hard and impossible to answer. I think of you work hard you'll get a decent grade.

one of the best calc professors that have taught me. I took two classes with him, 169 and 218. he gave me A in both classes . you have to work hard, and do all the exercises that he assigned to get the grade that you want

Really an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor. He made me love going to class. HIs tests were extremely fair and manageable, just do the homework and pay attention to the examples done in class, he often takes questions straight from the chalk board.

HILARIOUS Prof. Grading is done by TA NOT him which sucks. Only 2 tests + final & HW (aka no quizzes). Good guy, but lecture can tend to be dry. Hands out written notes that are easy to understand. Would recommend him to other students. PS: He's so cute!!

Dr. Islam is a great guy and great professor. That being said, this is not a write-off class. You need to pull your weight, do the HW, go to SI, and go to class to get a good grade. Dr. Islam, the TA, and the SI leader are all available and I wish I went to them all more since I finished the semester with a B. Great class if you put the work in.

His tests (or "teshts" - his accent) aren't difficult - everything on the test he goes over in class. So... to do well study 1-2 hours before the test, go to the SI sessions (he pulled some questions straight the SI practice test!!), and do the homework and you will get an A

Dr. Islam knows what he is talking about, but I had a very difficult time learning from him. Tests are difficult, but come straight from the work he gives in class and the selected review problems, so if you study it is not hard to get a good grade.

Islam is a great professor. I took him for Calc 1 & 3 and Diff EQ. He is very easy to understand and knows how to teach these classes. Also, very generous when giving out overall grades.
