took the class online. very straightforward 11 quizzes (one for each chapter) that are 10 questions each. 6 discussion board post which are usually 2 paragraphs long as well as a response to 1 classmate's posts for each discussion. also in the middle there is a paper due that is between 1-3 pages. DO NOT take her in person, online is better option

I've had Korgen for 2 classes and she's great. You absolutely can have "opinions" but we're in college to learn new perspectives and have our eyes and minds opened. Why go if you're close-minded? She's definitely fair and if you read, particulate and study you'll do well. Just have to make an effort.

You must agree and regurgitate her book. You are not allowed to have your own opinions. If you make a statement she doesn't like she will spend hours pulling information to contradict you. WPUNJ should never allow a professor to use her own book. Its a scam. She is teaching an intro class and she acts like you should have her knowledge. BAD

Do not take her under any circumstances. First of all if you are a guy do not think about it. If you make one statement that crazy liberal women doesn't like you will be treated unfairly. I guess Prof. Korgen isn't a good online professor. I loved her. My class was only once a week and she is by the far the best professor. Don't listen to the people below me. They didn't come to college to actually learn something but to just get by. But if you READ you'll be fine. Go to office hours if confused. she is friendly and loves questions!

If you put in the effort you could get an A. Her online tests are 10 minutes, so you have to know the chapter before you begin to take the test-you can't just wing it. I got a B because my last discussion was more of an opinion rather than a sociological perspective.

I will not take her again. Only gives 10 minutes for test, had an assignment due the day before thanksgiving, her assignments are due before 10AM on wednesdays and she is not helpful at all. Doesnt give much feedback and jumps to conclusions way too fast. If you rcv an 89, dont expect an A for your final grade. She is just that anal.

She only gives 10 minutes for quizzes and they are not easy. How does she expect people to memorize an entire chapter in ten minutes? She is also very rude through email. Don't take her unless you're cool with taking an entire chapter test in ten minutes.

Loved her class. She gives 3 exams, 1 final, Quizzes on each lecture, and Pop NY Times quizzes. If you READ the book you will pass. I failed the 1st test with a 18 because I didn't read learned my lesson and got A's on the rest ended the class with a A-. She's the reason I became a Soc Major. Take her for an easy A if you don't mind reading.

Class was taken online. Very easy; no complaints. about 10 quizes per chapter can take them whenever you want. a post every other week, rubric to follow. One paper on any question that we wanted. Very relaxing class; I would recommend.

I can't understand how anyone can complain about Dr. Korgen. She's by far the best professor at WPU and truly cares about her students. You will learn a lot in her class because she's a great prof and wants her students to actually learn something. If you just want an easy A and don't care about learning, take someone else. Korgen's great!

You need to work hard to get a good grade. But as the semester goes on it gets easier. You have to know how to write (all about grammar!) It is a fun class to discuss. Worth taking… but not if you're lazy

You have to earn your grade in Dr. Korgen's class. I had her for Social Strat. and Senior Seminar, and I she was great both times. She IS a stickler for grammar, but you will not regret taking her class. Her Senior Seminar class is not HALF as stressful as the others. You have to put in the work, but she will help you along the way. LOVE HER!!
