Comment:

The majority of your grade comes from the online textbook homework (which is lengthy and due every class day). She gives paper test/quizzes that are not too hard, but study! There are also 5 compositions where you write a story in French. There is one partner assignment where you write a 5 minute skit in French. Lots of homework but it's worth it.

She gives way too much work for a level one hundred course. She's giving you the workload of an actual French major. I don't know any of my peers that are actually caught up with the online homework. My GPA's gonna suffer all because of her. I definitely would not take her again.

This professor often gives last minute work. She NEVER grade your work therefore, you do not know where you stand in the class. Your grade depends on how she feels about you. If you make 2 mistakes in a translation she takes 6 points off.

This wasn't my only class with her. I love her methods, she is always ready to help if needed. She did what I thought was impossible: made me enjoy a poetry class. My favorite teacher, I absolutely recommend.

Ok so, I took her this summer and i must say yes, she is very challenging. The tests arent that bad and the homework is a lot. However, you do learn a lot. I don't understand what these people are talking about but she is extremely clear & helpful. Because of the amount of work that she gives, i would recommend her class in the winter or summer

Very unorganized! She totally messed up this semester in Origins. Gives entirely too much homework,that she cannot even grade it on time. Its not fair to us that she is allowed to teach in the manner that she does. SHE IS SO UNORGANIZED THAT YOU DON'T LEARN ANYTHING WITH HER, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FUNCTIONING IN A STATE OF UTTER CONFUSION.STAY AWAY

The bottom line with her is that she gives way to much work. She gives so much work that she can't even correct it and give it back to you in a reasonable amount of time. Her tests are entirely too long for the amount of time you have to do them, and she turns what could've been an interesting course into a very bad experience for most of us. SUCKS

She gives you ridiculous amount of work. I was a french major, but after takng her class. I lost all in interest in French. She made us get this book called l'histoire de france. This book is literally an encylopedia. She is very unclear about her assigments. Makes you answer long questions that take about an hr. There are around 6 ques.

Definately a favorite of mine. Most of the French I know is from this prof. She's clear, challenging, and best of all you learn French with her. Take her you can't go wrong with Loysen.

I found this class extremely boring, the teacher was not very well prepared and we learned unimportant things, like slang in French songs. She might be helpful and nice, but all I care is to be able to speak the language. I am not thrilled about having her in another class, but is inevitable for a French major.

Really nice- sometimes gives a lot of work- tests are way too long but you only have a midterm and final- speaks in english the entire time but you are expected to be semi-fluent in french- def participate and go to class- not an easy class but an A is attainable

Professor Loysen is the best prof they have in MSU's French department. I can't sing her enough praises, and having a chance to see what the rest had to offer only confirmed what I've thought all the while. I had her for Intermediate II and half the semester for this course, and she's just a wonderful professor.

Great Professor! Intelligent, nice and very helpful. I loved her class, she gives you work but it is so worth it if you really want to learn French. I would definately take a class with her again, she definately knows how to teach a foriegn language.

Dr. Loysen is one of the best professors in the school. I was a little unsure at first, but she is the most nonjudgmental person I've met! Any question is valid and every question is answered. She wants you to learn and to see progress. Her Translation class is the best class I've had.

I did a lot better than I thought I would in this class. I was nervous about the compositions, but she corrects your rough drafts and gives them back to you. Very nice, very helpful woman. Although I got bored when she taught, she was very helpful and nice. Take her class!

I went straight from Interm. French to Comp II because Comp I wasn't offered that term. Prof. Loysen was very understanding and made the material easier for me and everyone else to understand without dumbing it down. She never minded when I bugged her outside of class.

i was awful at french but had to take intermediate I to fulfill the requirement. She was extremely helpful and I left the class more enthusiastic about french than I ever had imagined. Definitely take her because she truly cares about her students and their understanding of the language.
