She's a good professor and definitely knows what she is talking about. She extended the first paper and is always available for help. TAs grade really HARD. She grades pretty easy but the TAs love asserting their power over students through the papers. The class is interesting but only take it if you want to work really hard for an A.

Kathy makes lectures interesting. Her tests are fairly easy and TA's help a lot in preparing for them. Overall, this was a fun, interesting class with not too much work. There are two papers, but they're not long. She likes giving extra credit.

I love KSTU as a professor! She is really into every class she teaches and makes it fun and exciting for the students. She did assign a 10 page paper but was available to discuss it and even extended the deadline. Also know the paintings she discussed for the midterm and know how to spell Gerechtigkeitsbild! I'd recommend her other courses as well

Unless your planning on majoring in history DONT NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! There is SO much reading and they are long and sometimes difficult to understand. She is nice and a good teacher, but acts like her class is the only one your taking. TA's grade hard so study. Be prepared to devote your life too this class because it will take up a lot of time!

She is a little scatter-brained but is extremely smart and very funny. I plan on taking her other history courses as it really isn't hard to do well in her class. Especially if you take notes in lecture and learn the basics of the paintings she clearly says will be on the test.

Professor Stuart shows paintings instead of lecture slides and makes it extremely difficult to know what the main points are. You have no idea what she expects from you, and it's almost impossible to get her to tell you, making for a lower grade than what you could have had, especially with the TAs grading so harshly.

Professor Stuart's seminar was on the History of Violence in Early Modern Europe. The subject and reading were very interesting and Professor Stuart was knowledgable and enthusiastic about the topic. The discussions were relaxed and engaging and the course work was completely reasonable. I thought the class was very enjoyable.

Her classes are random facts, spun off the wall by her own research. She doesn't lecture by the book BUT she tests by it. And for all you freshman and sophomores: the history department here at UCD is FAMOUS for having lower div classes that are way way too hard.(I am a Senior) Bail on history dept. for now and comeback when upper div is game.

This class was terrible. The lectures were so dry- no lecture slides, just paintings. The TA's grade pretty hard and there is SO much reading, more reading than all my other classes combined. Too hard for a GE class and you actually have to read to understand paper topics/test questions. Stay away, far away.

Content of her class is extremely fun!! There are a lots of interesting subject and topic I haven't known. If you want to enjoy studying Western civilization, especially Renaissance and Enlightment, the class is best choice. But geting good grade in the class is hard. She and TA demands a lot to you to get a good grade. However class is interesting

Don't expect to just blow off discussion and just sit there, the T.A's for this class are known to be brutal. Expect to be confused frequently due to her sporadicness. And expect the 2 paper topics will be so broad you will be lucky if your TA blesses You with an A. Overall there are 5 assignments! way, way, to much work for a lower division class.

SHE WAS TERRIBLE! The most unorganized, unclear, and inconsistent professor I've had. She didn't stick to her own daily outlines for the course and constantly went off on tangents. She went out of town for the last 2 weeks of the quarter and changed our final exam to an essay so she wouldn't have to come back. Unclear expectations No feedback LOUSY

Prof. Stuart is great. Lectures were very interesting. Crime and Punishment is the title of the course, but you will learn so much about early modern Europe in general as well. Reading can be a bit much, but it is all interesting and relevant to the course. Straightforward mid-term w/ study guide and a take-home final that wasn't too bad.

Tough and challenging class; don't miss a lecture, take notes, go through all the readings, and you'll make it. I learned a lot from Prof. Stuart's class. Crime and punishment is the title of the course so be prepared for experiencing some discomfort.

It is just your basic history class. She is passionate about her lectures although she just reads from her notes. If you pay attention and get a decent TA, you'll get a B or maybe an A.

Well, she is not hard, but she expects you to know what is required. Her test are easy if you know the material since she goes through everything during lecture. Suggestion: go to lecture, everything comes from lecture. You really dont need the text. I'm probably getting an -A without reading a single word from the text.
