Worst class I have ever taken. Was some-what interested in Finance until I took this class. I am an A student and have never received a C in my life until this class. He makes you feel stupid and makes you 100% not interested in Finance. Test averages were always in the 50-60's and are worth 80% of your grade. I would avoid this professor. AWFUL.

Please avoid this professor, exams are extremely harder than examples in class. Averages in the low 60's with a 3 point curve maximum which didn't help at all. If you miss more than 2 classes he takes 2 points off your final average every absence. Please don't take him. Save yourself.

If you are not a finance major, do not take any classes with this professor. He is an extremely hard grader and his tests are horrendous. The class average on tests is usually in the low 60s and for the final exam he gives you a written guideline but does not follow. He is the worst professor I have ever had and I would avoid him at all costs.

i have been reading through comments about Prof. Girma. I believe most of people have been wrong about him. He is actually a nice professor, he teaches well and gives great lectures, if you come to class, there is no way you fail his class. Plus, his exam was't tough, if you study and read the text book, you will be fine. Definitely take again

I like Girma better than most, but I have heard he has changed his ways and was nicer this year than in previous years. He's definitely tough but mostly fair. My only real complaint is that many of his homeworks are difficult and time-consuming solely because he doesn't teach how to do some types of problems. If you put in the work you'll be fine.

I didn't think he was as bad as the reviews said. I think he changed his ways a bit. That being said, he is a tough teacher and expects you to put in a lot of studying hours. Tests weren't super hard but definitely not easy. He is very knowledgeable and a better teacher than most professors in my opinion. Just make sure to get on his good side

Awful. His tests don't at all reflect what he teaches in class. Not a good teacher, do not recommend him at all try your best to find any alternative. Class average on the final exam was a 53. Yikes.

very tough class. Homework can take a few hours some nights. Ask a question and he'll make you feel like an idiot. When average test scores for the class are in the 50s you know there's a problem with how its being taught

Wow, all I have to say is wow. One of the worst professors I have ever known. Lectures are scattered and not clear. The subject material wouldn't be as bad if it was taught the right way but the way he teaches it makes it so you basically have to teach yourself the material. Just dont take him

The worst that New Paltz has to offer. Avoid at all costs! I repeat, avoid at all costs!! HWs take 2-3 hours a piece, there are an endless amount of quizzes, and his tests are impossible. Condescending, rude, unhelpful, impatient, and an overall terrible teacher. Would never take him again. Studied for hours only to see mediocre grades.

You really cover a lot in Fundamentals of Corporate finance. He goes quickly and doesn't care if you don't keep up. All of the homework and quiz answers are online, he uses a wileyplus type thing to assign all homeworks and quizzes. Absolutely no reason you should not do well on those. Tests are basically hardest questions from hw and quizzes.

I had no trouble in Professor Girma's class. His tests reflected what was taught and what was given as homework. The homework assignments were about one per week if I recall correctly and they took anywhere from 45 minutes to a few hours (read: 2). The content was not very hard and I never felt that Professor Girma was unclear when lecturing.

Haven't yet decided if I like him or not. He is very annoying at times but can be a good instructor if you really pat attention and do the work. Tests are ridiculously hard though, and are not at all weighed out properly. each question on the test is worth 1.36% of your FINAL GRADE. It makes no sense. You will learn if you are very attent though

He expects you to know everything. When you ask a question, he tells you that you should know that already and doesn't help at all!! Homework is 10-12 questions and very time consuming/annoying. Doesn't give review for tests, let alone tells you what is on it. I am 7 weeks in and already am pulling my hair out.. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Whoever says this man is a good professor is clearly delusional. I came into this class very interested in the subject matter and left hating it. Went to class everyday and did all the HW (which was way too much) and still had difficulty understanding it. Does not understand how to teach. Avoid taking him!
