Comment:

Swim very clearly knows what he's talking about and has lots of experience practicing what he teaches. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult, but if you study and read the text book you should be fine. Beware of skipping or leaving early as, if enough people do, he'll almost ALWAYS give pop quizzes. Despite the difficulty, GREAT professor.

Comment:

Do the study guides and STUDY THEM! It's that easy, never touched the book and rarely looked at the power points. He heavily curved the tests, if he sees the class as a whole is trying to improve. The quizzes are tricky but all you have to do is accumulate 100 points total which isn't hard if you show up to class.

This class is definitely difficult! Test are hard and based on study guides! Thankfully, He curves the test! Show up to every class, he gives a lot of quizzes! don't take notes just pay attention, the PowerPoints are useless. Do all the study guides in detail and study them or you will not pass the test! One group projects should be a grade booster

Comment:

Swim's class can be intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. He talks about current events for the first few minutes of class and he gives quizes every week or so. The test are easy if you actually do the study guides that he gives. Class is pretty much graded based on test scores.

He was a very hard grader and it felt as though half of the exam questions weren't from the slides or the study guides. The class was fun and you learn a lot but the main thing is the exams.

Such a bad professor! Never take him, even not online. it is unbelievable how suck this dude is. I can not even imagine what it will be like to go to his actual classes. He does follow his syllabus, do not give partial credit on discussion(seriously I got a zero on a online class's 1000 words discussion for forget to reply to a classmate)

In the beginning I was worried because I'm an A-student and I was making a B. He is a tough grader, and yes he makes you work for it, but in the end, it's really rewarding to know you excelled at a tough prof's class. Plus, when you tell people you made an A in Swim's class, it's pretty cool.

Must attend class because he takes attendance every day. Only lectures for 30 out of the 50 minutes because is always late and talks about current events for way too long at the beginning of class. Gives pop quizzes often especially on Friday's. Have to do reviews to get curves on the tests and you are gonna need the curve. Really hard professor.

By far one of the hardest classes I've had to take. Expect no curves on test unless you do the study guides. Also, you will not do good on test unless you do the study guides, learned from experience. Pop tests are given, and one group work is given. The test are very hard, and tricky. Definitely a class you have to pay attention and participate in

Swim is a great guy. He is really good about being fair and balanced. Although these things are very true, I would not recommend him at any cost. He makes you do up to 70 question "study guides" per chapter. Since there are a lot of questions most are extremely repetitive. His tests are full of trick questions.

Swim is okay. I never touched the textbook and I made an A in the class. As long as you pay attention in lecture its fine. Although his lectures are, on average, only 30 minutes. He spends a lot of time in the beginning taking roll and current events. The study guides are a necessity to get the curve and the best way to study for (easy) tests.

Despite my low ratings, I actually liked Swim as a professor- he's funny and you'll learn alot. He wasn't clear on tests though and I made C's on all of them. However, he gave curves and extra credit and I ended up with an A.

He is a funny guy that literally reads his outlines from the power points. All you need to do is study the chapter questions from the outlines and you will be fine for the test. Make sure not to talk in class though or he will yell at you or kick yoou out!

Swim is an awesome guy, but his tests are incredibly difficult. You have to pay attention to the SMALLEST details. Even though it was difficult, I learned a whole lot. If you are interested in Government, this is definitely the guy to take.

Not good. Tests are incredibly hard, 1 kid in our class of about 20 got an A. Not helpful - never responds to emails, never gives any clues as to what will be on the tests, doesn't post grades online. Tests are full of trick questions. Do not take him for anything.

Mr. Swim is an okay teacher. Only take him if you really want to work for your grade. The quizzes are over his lecture and the tests are over the book, but he doesn't specify that. Do the reviews and read the book and you should be fine. Won't tell you your grade no matter what. He can also be moody, but you never know his mood until class starts
