Professor Chaston is my favorite professor at Davidson! She is so kind and helpful- will work around your schedule to help you if you make the effort. Very difficult class if you're not good at econ.....

Very nice and helpful, though watch out on anything graded. HW is easy, and she posts the answers online. Dont even bother reading the book, everything comes from lecture. if you study your notes she's an easy b-b+ in econ 101

She's a very nice person, but unfortunately she is very unclear with her expectations and like others have said, she often expects you to almost read her mind on some assignments. She is also very opinionated and quick to judge so first impressions are absolutely key with her. Smaller details seem to set her off more than the larger ones, beware.

On tests, lectures help more than textbook. Although nothing can prepare you for some of the questions that are asked on the test.As far as office hours, she might be there half the time she says she will.

Comment:
Chaston wasn't clear in her expectations, for instance, reading the textbook had about a 50-50 chance of hurting more than it helped. Eventually she admited that 90% of her test comes from lecture material which is different from the book. Keep this in mind when going to class / (not) reading the book.

Great professor, my favorite so far at Davidson! The class was tough, but if you take the time to go to office hours she'll go over entire lectures if it helps you understand the material.Really takes an interest in her students and cares about how they're doing in the class. Definitely a worthwhile class!

Awesome teacher. Awesome accent. It just makes my day the way she says the word "coffee" in a practice problem.

Go ahead and take Chaston for Eco 101, but never again. She's super disorganized and has absurd expectations for students that she fails to hold to herself. While she's very helpful out of class, she expects you to read her mind on numerous assignments and will give you a bad grade if you can't.

She's an incredibly difficult prof, but also very, very good at teaching the material. I probably learned more in her class than any other this semester. She's also very willing to help you outside of class. Overall, a hard prof, but a great teacher - you will learn a ton of econ from her.

Very nice person. Explains well in class(always ask questions if you do not understand otherwise you WILL get lost) always willing to help but her exams are simply in Chinese...that is phrases and questions are completely different than in class.
