Comment:

Kelly is one of the best profs at Grinnell. She is super considerate and understanding of the difficulty in learning a new language. She will always listen to your questions and genuinely want to help. She assigns a reasonable amount of homework and is a pretty easy grader. The quizzes and test are always reasonable and you get the grade you need.

Her class is difficult, but puts in lots of work, and expects you too, as well. She is very funny and excited about what she teaches. She clearly cares about her students. The textbook is terrible, however.

Kelly is an amazing mentor and a dedicated professor. Her tutorial on Philip Pullman is the best course I've taken at Grinnell so far. Her approach is very relaxed and she really trusts her students. Absolutely would recommend.

Kelly was my advisor and I had a bunch of Russian classes with her. She's sweet and funny, and her classes are easy and engaging. She's not a tough grader at all, but you learn what you need to know and have fun doing it.

Linguistics was such fun. The homework and reading were actually enjoyable (especially Steven Pinker's The Language Instinct). I still remember a lot from that class, even though it's been ten years since I took it. Just an absolute joy.

Prof Herold is very sweet! She is very flexible and understanding so if you think you can't turn in an assignment on time, talk to her about it. She knows a lot about Russian culture (this was a lit class taught in English) and she led some good discussions. Overall, fun class--not too hard, except seminar-level (as it is one) reading load.

Not a bad teacher/lecturer, but a rampant grade inflater, which really does a disservice to those who genuinely put effort into their work. She's a spacey adviser too. I swear, part of the reason she seems so chill is because she really doesn't care all that much.
