I would say avoid him at all cost, but most of his classes have no other options. Terrible professor. His "lecture" material is extremely limited and filled with irrelevant stories. We spent a good 2 days learning how to make/read a scatter plot. He literally tried to teach us what an x and y variable were. In a 300 level class. Busy work for lab.

LITERALLY NO EXAGGERATION... do not take Dr. Hobby if you don't have to. He's an old man that thinks he's funny so he tells awkward stories about drugs and prisons instead of teaching,. . You will not learn anything in lecture.

He'll make you work for it, but he gives you the resources to make the grade you want in a difficult but useful class.

Dr. Hobby is TERRIBLE. He cares nothing about helping you. And he is very confusing. I learned nothing about stats. If you are thinking of majoring in psychology, don't go to Harding. He is the only one that teaches stats, and data analysis and you will have a terrible time with it.

Great person, horrible instructor (monotone, dry humor, and thinks he is hilarious). The class was very unorganized. We have 5 books required to use, and a lab. 3 credit course on MWThF. I have had stats in high school and this is NOTHING like what I learned. No graphing calculators. You learn all of the mathematical procedures by long-hand.

He is a great guy. Lectures are dry, but what do you expect when you are taking statistics. He tries to make it better with comics and stories. (BTW his sense of humor is a little different.) You will use your packets and textbook. Do not sell your book because you will need it! Document your absences! He tries to help everyone pass the class.

Great guy in class. Not very personable outside of class. I have no idea why class attendence is taken because everything you are tested on is in the book. Don't buy your textbook before the first day of class. He might not have the study guide updated to the current version. He required the new version of the book but didn't update the study guide

Kinda funny guy. He laughs at himself all the time. For some, a HARD class. For others, if you can pick up on the few things he actually teaches you and figure out the rest from the books you have, you'll do fine. His tests are HARD, but I did good in the end. Lectures are really laid-back.

I like him as a person, but i couldn't follow his lectures. To study for the test you just need to WORK THROUGH THE STUDY GUIDE BOOK THAT YOU BUY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER.He gives you a "study guide" handout that isn't helpful. Most of my classmates somehow never figured out that he takes the test questions straight from that book.(Go to lab)

Stats and research are the same class. Even use the same book! Some days you come to class and all you do is listen to his stories of when he was overseas. It's really hard ot be motivated to go to class, especially since he doesn't count absenses. But he tells you exactly what's on the test.

I didn't give a lick about stats, but I'm in grad school now and I realize how well most other people just DONT GET IT. Everything in grad school is a repeat of undergrad stats, even dumbed down a little. If you do well here, you'll kick butt in grad school.

I hated both of his classes! I even got the highest grade in the class in research, and I can't remember a thing that I learned! That should say something! He is a nice guy and is very funny. Classes are sometimes even entertaining, BUT DO NOT TEACH YOU ANYTHING!!! He thinks that that will help you figure it out by yourself. It doesn't!!!

creepy man that wastes your time telling jokes and looking at comics - does not prepare students for grad school - I passed his class because I got 40 points extra credit for attending stress management workshops - what a joke

Hobby's class was def entertaining and interesting (how can abnormal people be boring, tho...) But the second week into school, I missed two days for my grandmother's funeral and he would NOT excuse my absenses. As if being at Harding didn't suck enough...
