Get ready to write. This guy, while great and SO interesting, only offers essay tests. Do NOT think you can study for this test the night before. Study daily. Do not take during a heavy semester. Neurophys is so cool, but he makes you work for it. Doesn't use Canvas/ give slides. DO. NOT. SKIP. CLASS. EVER. (no extra credit)

The only grades are essay exams. Theyre HARD exams. He doesnt use Canvas or give access to his slides, so take notes. Get a smartpen. Study every day. He is a little dry but every now and then says something absolutely hilarious. He really does care about his students and I have really enjoyed his class. Dont EVER skip class.

Comment:

Dr. Ireland has been one of my favorite professors at Harding. His tests can be a tricky if you don't study, or aren't good at essay tests. However, his lectures are great, he tells you what you need to know, you don't ever have homework, and you don't even need the book. This is by far my favorite class I've taken.

Take him in the summer. He is so much more relaxed that way. I tried taking him in the spring but I couldn't do it. If you do take him in the spring or fall, don't put off studying. You can learn a lot, but make sure to pay attention! He will be sure to help you out to but you have to ask him.

My favorite professor at Harding, hands down. I would recommend trying to take him in the summer because he is more relaxed, and easier to get to know. His tests can be difficult, but he simply is pushing students to their full potential. He not only taught me things academically but also applicable life lessons. I really enjoy his point of view.

Dr. Ireland is a wonderful guy, but his class is very hard. He gives all the information that is needed for the class and is very clear in want he is going to test everyone over, but he does expect a lot which makes te tests very hard. But he will meet outside of class in his office if you are confused about anything and need help.

Dr. Ireland is hands down the best college professor I've had. His tests are certainly challenging, but you learn the material really well. Though he tries to put on a no-nonsense act, he's extremely caring and helpful. Don't let him fool you. I'm a better student because of him.

I really hated this class. I have no idea why he has such good ratings. Maybe he's good in other classes, but this class was just overhead after overhead of notes. Then, for the tests he essentially wanted you to memorize ALL of them and be able to copy them onto the test. He's extremely dry and boring also. I'm intentionally avoiding him now.

I had a much different experience in Professor Ireland's class. He was a very nice guy, but as far as teaching went, he was extremely boring, with outdated books and materials. Not only that, but the essay tests were hard and he was not an easy grader. He gives NO extra credit or homework assignments and it is hard to pull your grades up. Watch out

He is a good teacher, but some of his information is a little bit dated and biased religiously. I liked him, and I recommend him, especially over other PSY profs like Hobby or Thomas. Tests are essay, no surprises, but take good notes, don't miss class.

Had him for Pers & then took every other class he taught. Hands down the best teacher I've ever had @ Harding or in grad school. He's a genuine, caring person. His classes aren't easy, but they're worth it. I'd recommend him to anyone. You can also go see him in the counseling center. He'll help you out & won't tell the deans. He's just cool.
