Comment:
Endless tangents I stopped pretending to laugh at after a few weeks. Left some unnecessarily condescending comments on my exam. Always reads the homework poems at the start of class, so you can skip homework for the first 3rd of the course.

Pellow is a very interesting character, often going off on tangents and anecdotes that are often pretty hilarious. This class comprised of 6 papers all on the same book so it did grow a bit boring but Pellow made it interesting. I wish Pellow was my grandpa. He is hilarious.

Dr. Pellow is not a teacher I would ever recommend to another student in hopes of recieving an A or having any sort of self-esteem after this class. He grades without mercy and no construction to his criticism--I wouldn't even call it that. He bashes the paper all that he can and you will leave with little belief in yourself.

Comment:
Any of Professor Pellow's classes are incredibly difficult to pass. The man will talk long enough to have to change the schedule, but apart from that, nothing is really gained. He will voice his atheistic views, his Irish background, and his opinions (which he talks of like they were facts). He will grade your papers harshly, sometimes personally.

Professor Pellow is a great lecturer and a pleasure to listen to, he has a fountain of knowledge. However, he is an unbelievably difficult grader. His comments on your exams and papers will crush your soul. If you have room in your GPA, take the class, but take what he says with more than just a grain of salt. I hope never to have to take him again

Professor Pellow was the kind of teacher I had hoped to find for all my Lit. classes. He is a brilliant lecturer with a wealth of dimension, enthusiasm for countless authors, and an exceptional wit along with his deep knowledge of literature. Thanks for the chance to say thanks for the privilege of taking his classes. Great memories, still enjoyed.

K. Pellow is a legendary professor and great man. His brilliance is elucidated through his professional as well as his personal instruction. His wit is unmatched and his dedication is unquestionable. I wish I could have taken many more courses under his guidance. If you lack dedication the course will appear exponentially challenging.

His reputation for hard grading on writing assignments is deservedly daunting, but I found it an enjoyable challenge, and his comments improved my writing. Brilliant lecturer, fantastically enjoyable class. My only regret: not taking more classes from him.

I am a strait A student who managed to almost fail his class. His papers and tests are horrible and pointless. How can I be doing well in all my other classes but failing his? Great lectures but the grading was extremely harsh.

Dr. Pellow is easily the most intelligent, literate, and engaging professor in the UCCS English Department. I learned more from him than the rest of the English professors combined. Those who don't like him don't understand the college experience and probably never will.

Professor Pellow is a smart man, but there is no constructive criticism in his critiques. He will write almost mean comments on papers like "How on Earth did you draw that conclusion...unbelievable" and "How did you even make it to this class" He often comments on gender and religion in a disprespectful way. Definitely a NO GO!

Pellow is the most amazing, intellectual, and challenging professor that i've ever had. I hate Brit Lit but he makes it so interesting, it's hard not to want to go to class and learn more. As someone else posted, he's classically handsome and very intriguing. Very hard class but you actually learn from him and grow as a writer. Take his class!

Considered by English majors to be GPA poison, but despite his comments on your papers, he's really a very nice man. Earn an A in his Brit Lit class and become the envy of your peers.

Dr. Pellow was superb in the English classes I took from him. He's lucid, engaging, intellectually challenging, fair, and funny. I noticed that those who didn't like him generally weren't very bright and didn't appreciate him not lowering his level of discourse and grading standard to suit their needs, which is ridiculous. Dr. Pellow is a winner.

Pellow is top-notch! He's hard, but worth it. He knows the literature he is teaching through & through. He'll make you see things in a very different way if you are willing. I made 2 A's with 2 of Pellow's classes, so it *can* be done.
