This is not an easy class but i guarantee that if you can survive this class and understand everything he has taught you then there will be no chemistry class you can't handle. His class gives you the foundation for upper division chemistry. If you do good here then you're set. He is so patient too- was there on Fridays late just to help out! Great

Comment:

Dr. Vaughan is awesome. He has a great sense of humor (if you like Monte Python's Quest for the Holy Grail and such). His labs are not so bad, his tests are extremly difficult, and he explains concepts pretty well. I recommend him if you are going into the more chemical aspect of Biology or Chem in general. YAY CHEM!

Best chemistry professor at B.C. Explains concepts very well and will take as much time as needed until everyone understands. Fair grader and gives some extra credit. Places much emphasis on concepts and understanding the "big picture." Requires lots of time to do well, but worth it.

he is the hardest teacher i have taken at BC BUT it is possible to pass his class (pass well). DO YOUR HOMEWORK, from day one and make sure your labs are perfect. at least you can control these things. his tests are crazy but use the labs and h/w to boost your grade. listen in class. it will come back to haunt you. give your all from day 1

first off, there is no such thing as an EASY Chem class. all chem classes are a challenge, but he's pretty laid back. he doesn't give F's unless you really just don't show up. he's weird at times... he's such an extrovert. he gives extra credit to help boost up your grade. i recommend him.

Dr. Vaughan is a very good professor. I have taken him in the past and am taking him again. He explains things with great clarity. A few people say his lectures are boring but that is only because he goes over stuff until EVERYONE gets it. He is always there by person email or by the phone if you have any problems.He will stay after class if needed

Very smart & a great teacher. Breaks Chem down to simplest terms. Very helpful. Test are very difficult but they get a little easier at the end. Often over looked HW/labs are worth more than people realize. Study, do HW/labs & use his office hours an can get a B. Very few get an A. Good prereq for Phyiso/ hard on the GPA

He's not an easy teacher, but he's not a terrible one either. Yes, his lectures are boring but he is a good teacher and answers questions. I always had questions in labs, because I never payed attention in lecture, and he was never rude. I came out of his class with a low B. He's not that bad!

This guys is very hard, uncaring, and utterly boring. Take this class elsewhere is possible. He is rude, and it is very difficult to get a B or even a C in the class. Be prepared to listen to him sing Disney sing-alongs during the entire class period.

Horrible teacher! No one got an A in my class. I got the feeling he disliked his students. Babbles on and on with many tangents--it was very hard for me to understand his lectures. His tests are hideously long and often cover material not done in class.
