Brother Jackson knows his stuff, but he organizes this course poorly so that it's difficult to know what's going on and keep up. You split into groups for the whole semester and make a game; but everyone makes their own game, so there is no uniformity (everyone makes a way different game), making it extremely difficult for the T.A.s to help you.

Bro. Jackson is a wonderful instructor. He would always go over each assignment in class and also remind you of the assignments during the week. He is always willing to help you and will stay with you until he has helped you solve your problem. You can tell that he cares about you as a student and really does want you to succeed.

Class instructions are unclear and chaotic, you are required to work with a partner the entire semester. The reading assignments are crawling with grammatical errors making an already difficult topic much more confusing. Teacher is unclear, contradictory and not helpful. Class is NOT for beginning Java learners. Know your java before you start.

The whole semester is spent making a text based RPG. He puts you in teams and each week is spent building another part of your game. Jackson is always there to help if you don't understand or have trouble with your code. He could be better at updating grades regularly. In the last week I went from an A- to a D back up to a B+.

I think Bro. Jackson is very kind and patient with the students. However, that plays very little into the actual classwork. When I took it, he had me create a game with my partner. To do well, you'd have to come with a solid understanding of C++ or Java itself, otherwise this class is rather difficult. Know the basics or take from another teacher.

Brother Jackson is a fantastic professor. He is difficult but the class is worth taking. He is extremely patient and kind and if you put in the work you will reap the rewards. If you are motivated and do the work you will do well in the course. I loved his class!

Brother Jackson is a nice man but he is difficult to understand if you are new to computers. He doesn't always explain things clearly. If you are new to CIT I definitely recommend taking this class with a different Professor.

First half of semester was good. Everyone was clueless the second half of semester. He told us to just do as the manual states-never was correct. You could show up to his office and wait 10 minutes before he acknowledged your presence- at his door!

Not Helpful at all, Shows up for class late and cancels class quite a bit. He talks about useless information most of the class period then opens it up for questions the last 15 minutes and can never get through all of them. If you can find another professor for this class take them.

There was a lot to learn and you had to learn it quickly. The course schedule was unclear, you did not know what you were going to be doing the next day. He is very knowledgable, but not the best at teaching what he knows so you understand it (for me anyway) I had to learn a lot from other sources to keep up.

Awful teacher. He has his "set" answers that he answers every question with, even though they don't answer the real question. Doesn't help out much at all. Doesn't teach you anything that you need to know. He requires you to do things that can't even be found in the book. Avoid this class if possible.

In my senior project he did not say one word to me the whole semester, no calls, e-mails, notes, nothing! oh, btw.. 1 month after i graduated, and i still dont have a diploma because he hasn't give me a grade yet. You think he would be responsible being the chair. The linux scholarships? Ya, they are a whole semester overdue as well.. great work!

Had him for 1 class and have sought his help on an "individual" level many times. No he doesn't give you the answer he makes you think like an adult should. He is difficult, so are his assignments. He can also be hard to understand sometimes, but I find that he is always willing to point you in the right direction if asked.

Bad rep, but actually very nice and helpful. I know several students and myself included where he has spent several hours at a time helping with homework and programs. He will lay the hammer if you're lazy, but can be merciful if you work hard and try your best. Very nice guy and great teacher.
