Some people like him, some do not. It's pretty easy to get a B in his courses. His tests are not impossible - usually, what you think is an extremely difficult question really has a simple answer. I had him for lab and lecture and he was better for lab. He'll help you if you get stuck. Probably the best Ochem prof at OSU. Knows subject VERY well

Gable is hard but fair, simple as that. On the first day of class, he makes it abundantly that you can't glide through the class. Ochem doesn't come naturally to everyone, and its not a surprise that people consistently gripe about this class. However, Gable has clear expectations, solid lectures, and is a fantastic resource when you need help.

Above average, but not great. Lectures at very high level Tests were weird and you never quite knew what to expect. The class was an easy B or C. When some people complained about the difficulty, he said "This is the level we're teaching the course at, so do whatever you need to do to get onto that level." Easier said than done for most people.

Great professor. This is my favorite class I have taken yet. On top of having interesting material presented, Gable added a lot to this course with his extensive amount of knowledge on the subject.

Dr. Gable is an exceptional chemistry professor. He goes above and beyond the "basics" and does his best to integrate real world examples into every day of lecture. That being said, his class is not easy at all and will require a lot of outside effort to do well. Get a study group and go to his office hours, and you'll succeed and learn a lot.

I am not sure about this site's numerical rating system, given that "easiness" is arbitrarily considered superior to "difficulty". In my opinion the classes I took with this professor were difficult, but they were benevolently difficult. Probably one of the top five professors I have had anywhere (and I've been around). Recommended.

His exams are the hardest in the world. He puts PhD student questions on an undergraduate exam. Other than that, he's pretty fun...he makes you think rather than reproduce information.

The guys is like a huge teddy bear. Explains Orgo pretty nuts, once you get to know him outside of class, he is one heaven of a guy. If you don't like lectures that are a bit monotone, try cracking a few (reasonable) jokes. He is the only professor I know who actually takes 15 mins of class time to answer questions, so that makes him super awesome.

Good professor. Hard exams, expects you to know stuff he never covers in class. His curve is usually pretty decent, and lecture is good too. Reading the book was really useful!

Prof. Gable is very knowledgable at organic chemistry. He teaches you the mechanisms in a very detailed manner that will prepare you for a career in a chemistry related field. The professional series of O chem is really tough so expect to have difficult, integrated problems on the exams!

Tests are incredibly difficult, prepare to be caught off-guard. He curves fairly generously however. Lectures are interesting, although his voice is a bit dry.

Probably the worst written tests I've ever seen, a 100 point midterm was four questions, and one question was 40% of the test, he does post last years midterms and exams online, but he doesn't post the answer key for you to check your work, he also has a rather dull voice so if you have a hard time focusing, find a study group or find a tutor

He's very organized, teaches well, and is very intelligent. You can tell his whole world is Ochem. He expects you to know the stuff at a very high level. The profs we had for the first 2 terms were way easier, so it made Gable's class harder. Just study a lot, ask questions when they come up, and you will do fine. Very easy to get a good grade.

seemed a bit arrogant at times but a very knowledgable person. Tests are very hard and he goes through the material fast. Reading ahead of the lectures is very important for this class.

You have to read the book for this class. He doesnt show you all the mechanisms he tests you on, and the ones he does teach you in class he skips steps for. He periodically pulls up his website to give you a visual aid for whichever molecule hes talking about. His tests are hard.
