It's awesome in the beginning of the year but it really gets harder at the end so don't sleep on it. You can seriously write random topics you remember on the back of lecture tests and he'll give you +4 points. He has a metaphor for everything and the content he lectures on is usually pretty interesting. Show up to class, he's great! says"hey"alot

Impossible to understand because of his new jersey accent. Speaks fast. when asked for help he does the problem for you instead of showing you how to do it.

Had Kevin for 104 and 320, amazing professor and helpful outside of class as well. If you don't go to class, pay attention and get into the material, you won't do well in the class. He writes class notes to go along with all of the classes which are very helpful.

Class was really hard for me, but that's because I find rocks really boring. His practice quizzes that he sends out are so similar to the real thing, so I definitely recommend doing those. His subject is boring, but he's super funny and nice. Would take another class with him

Dr. Hefferan is a great proffesor at everything I've had with him. Structural geology is a hard subject but he is a master geologist. He will work through the lectures and math to try to the concepts. He goes at fast pace however so be good at math and read the chapters!

Nice funny guy. Most of the time he goes to fast about material you've never heard of in your life before. Still a very good instructor. Studying is necessary for this class and the exams are extremely similar to the review guides.

He's really knowledgeable, has a good sense of humor, and easy to approach. In lecture, he talks very quickly, with a lot of metaphors for processes, and seems to almost ramble, so you have to pay close attention. He's willing to help you with questions. There is a lot of material to learn, and it's difficult, but he's a very good professor

Cool teacher, great sense of humor, straight forward with what will be on tests, hilarious metaphors. *Note his classes do take a descent amount of studying but if you stay up to date with material and studying, you will enjoy his class

I took this as a summer interim class. Very challenging and requires a significant amount of time for reading and studying. Professor Hefferan was very direct in what was important and what would be on the tests. He would periodically ask if anyone had any questions throughout his lectures. Would definitely take another class with him.

Enthusiatic and funny guy. Hard to understand in lecture at times and gives you lots of information. Acts out lots of geological processes, which can be quite interesting and is worth attending class for. Write everything you know about geology on exams to get more points!

If you want to learn an amazing amount about Earth's geology and processes, this is the class to take. You will learn more than you ever imagined, and it's relatively painless. Prof Hefferan is extremely knowledgeable and interesting, and cares about his students. Bottom line for him is to go to every class and PAY ATTENTION.

Hefferan is a great professor. He sincerely cares about Geology, and is an expert in his field. Print out the provided notes, go to every class, and pay attention. If you do, you will learn more than you ever imagined. It's a challenging course, but well worth the effort, and Dr Hefferan will work with you if you try hard and do the work.
