Comment:
Prof Meehan is a great professor. Has clear expectations and knows the subject well. Class is based off of one lengthy discussion post per week based on readings. There is 1 midterm paper and 1 final paper. He's a slow grader but very fair. Readings are actually interesting for once in this class! Just don't half-butt your work and you'll get an A.

The professor gives clear syllabus and expectations. Easy grader, no tests in this online fast track course just (long and detailed) discussion posts once a week. Forgot to enter my extra credit points had to remind him several times, but answered my e-mails (albeit slowly which is hard in a fast track course) but overall good class.

I took this online. He is hands off. The course felt like it was on autopilot. He gives basic overall feedback as a general "here's how the class did" format email. I find it frustrating when professors don't put effort into the online format by ignoring their students. Needs more interaction.

This class was super easy: no papers, multiple choice mid-term and final, clear questions for discussion posts. But because there are so few assignments, missing one could throw you off an entire letter grade. He doesn't respond to e-mails and forgot to grade one assignment. He corrected it, but you have to keep him on task if you want your grade.

I wish I could comment on Dr. Meehan's teaching style, but I took his course online. It was dry, didn't provoke discussion, and he never responds to emails. What was supposed to be a "fun" class for me turned out to be a bore, but I like writing papers and discussing literature and this just wasn't a component of his course. Easy A if you want it.

Prof. Meehan is my favorite professor at UCF. He brings thought-provoking discussions to everyday class. I have taken 3 of his classes because I adore his teaching style so much. His classes are discussion based and he makes you think deeper about the text that he assigns. He made me appreciate the education I am receiving! Very FAIR grader!

You will have four grades for the class, two of which are your midterm and final which are ridiculously easy. Someone who doesn't go to class once or read any of the material will do just fine on them. You will have one position paper and one creative project. Those will be the hardest part of the course but he isn't a hard grader.

I took professor meehan this semester for Harlem Haiti and Havana. This class is mostly discussion based, with a position paper presentation, midterm paper and test and a creative final. It was a easy class overall, but he is a very hard grader, and not many grades were in the class. Worst thing, he's a horrible communicator.

Caribbean lit - very interesting texts, unusual and thought provoking. Only had to buy a $12 paperback, the rest he provided pdfs in webcourses. Very easy, very light workload. If you need a lot of stroking, you won't like it as he gives 0 feedback. But if you're okay getting an A for little work and no back patting, take him.

In an online environment, communication is essential. He did not even answer ONE of my emails from Jan-April. He doesn't seem to care about his online students. The work is not hard, but it's just busy work. I often wondered why I was paying for this course & taking time to do the work if he barely took time to acknowledge us & guide our learning.

Class is almost a joke. So easy a caveman could do it. Prof is a little vague sometimes but no biggie. He talks too much in every class, he should be a history professor with all he blabbers about. You need to answer discussion questions based on several parts of the book so just get them @ the library. boring class but super easy. Meehan is okay.

Took it online. Very easy. Your assigned a group and there are 7 modules. On each module, your group is assigned a reading and 5 questions. That's it. Very easy, professor is not involved much only for grading. Grading is the seven discussions (5 pts each) plus an executive summary that you have to do once for 30 pts. Easy class, didn't learn much.

Meehan is very passionate about the subject & he'll answer everyone's questions thoroughly & efficiently. I didn't know much about caribbean lit prior to taking this class but I did find a lot of it to be interesting. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in culture/diversity. There are 6 discussions, three papers & a creative final.

Not a very 'involved' course (at least the online version). You just read the assigned texts and complete the weekly assignments. Straightforward but not very challenging. I guess it's not supposed to be though.

Kevin Meehan is the man! His class was great. I knew nothing of Caribbean Literature prior to this class, and I only really took it for a literary diversity credit. However, I learned so much. The reading was very light, but it was poignant. He was hard to contact though, but he's a very lenient grader. Overall, take this class. Great decision.

Took him online over the summer. Great organization of the course, and very interesting reads. The required workload is extremely light, so it's up to you to get more out of the course. My only slight problem was that the course felt deserted, since Meehan almost never commented on anything. But I think he was traveling, so might not be the norm.
