Comment:

Dr. Sheets is a very nice guy and very passionate about history. He tends to ramble on about tiny details for a very long time. You must read a book that was written by him because he gives quizzes at least once a week. The readings are long and boring and hard to understand. Good guy but I would not take his class again.

He is very passionate about history but if you're not a big fan of history you're likely to hate this class. He gives pop quizzes on the book that he "wrote" and it's readings about boring things every night. His power points suck so you won't have good notes therefore you won't have anything to study for the midterm or final. good luck.

His lectures are SO boring!!!!!!! He makes you read his book that he "wrote" meanwhile its all primary sources. And gives maddddd pop quizzes. good luck if you're taking him!

Comment:

Professor Sheets is very funny and passionate about history and what he does. His class can be a little boring if you don't really like history but he is a very funny cool guy who tries his best to make it enjoyable. Definitely go to class. He doesn't take attendance but he will give pop quizzes. I could've gotten an A if I went to class more.

Hes and awesome teacher and is super passionate about what he is talking about. You have to read the course reader that is assigned because he gives pop quizzes some days on the readings. Attendance is a huge part so try not to skip his class much. Def a tough grader but if you know your stuff you will be fine

Sheets is a great professor who is obviously passionate about American History. He is extremely energetic (even at 8:30 am) and gets you inthralled in the class. His essays are difficult unless you do the readings so make sure you do them! His midterm and final are also based off the reading! READ!

Sheets is a nice guy. Took him for us to 1877. While I only scored a B,if I tried harder I could have gotten a lot higher. I got between an 84-86 on all 3 of my papers(which I did the night before). Let us use the document book on final and midterm.I'm taking us FROM 1877 with him next semester. Easy B, put in a little more work and you'll get an A

Sheets is a really cool guy. There is a lot of work: 2 essays and a research paper. Also, he gives 2 tests and only gave a very minimal study guide for one of them. Overall I'd say I learned a lot from this class and he's not that tough of a grader, but I wouldn't take him if you're not prepared to work hard in the class.

Sheets is a nice enough guy, but I didn't enjoy his class. Though his assigned readings were not long, they were very difficult and boring. The worst part of the class is the quizzes. Sheets rolls a die to determine whether or not there will be a quiz. Odds, no quiz. Evens, quiz. Essentially, you could have a quiz every day. Nice, but avoid taking.

Seems like a nice guy at first. Unfortunately, his grading is tremendously unfair. Not very bright when it comes to the english language and doesn't seem to understand much more than the general storyline of American history. Take someone who will appreciate your hard work more than him.

He is super energetic and will make you interested if you weren't to begin with. He can be a tough grader but if you to to him with a rough draft of your paper he will edit and lead you in the right direction. You have to do the reading because there are random quizzes but if you read you'll get an A

Lots of work - not so much the main paper, but you have to read one incredibly boring book and write a paper on it - everyone in the class said they just read the back of the book and made stuff up... not too bad of a grader though. i liked him as a person a lot, not so fond of his choices in readings, but he is hilarious..

TOUGH... a lot of reading and many long assignments... do not take him if you have a lot of credits already... otherwise he is a good teacher, and i did learn a lot... be prepared, he will FORCE you to thnk and answer if called on...

Guy will make you think out the history on your own, will not spoon feed you. If you just read and participate you can do well. He loves to have class discussions on homework reading assignments. Good teacher if you like to "do history" instead of having it thrown at you.

He is an excellent teacher who assigns a lot of reading. I learned a lot from this class and you will too but be prepared to read. Likes class discussions as opposed to lectures and class seems to be very hard but it actually was not. Do your reading and go to class and you'll be fine. Very nice guy and hilarious.

This guy is very funny, but not easy. If you want a cream-puff class, DON'T take him! However, he's funny and he obviously loves history. His new baby is adorable (he shows pictures) and he's pretty cute, too...

Knows everything, but he knows that so he is hard to BS. good teacher if you need help go see him and he will point you in the direction you need to go 10 times over. Hes a new dad too. You can tell he cares about his job and is a true history freak. taking his class will make you a better historian
