Comment:

He's a really nice guy, and very understanding if you need an extension on assignments. His history and horror class is very interesting. Even though there is a lot of reading, it is a much easier class as the semester goes on. If you force yourself to do a decent amount of participation in discussions, you will do well in this class.

Comment:

Very difficult grader. As a freshman, this was a very difficult class for me, and it can be hard to take some the criticisms he writes on your papers. There are a couple of group projects that require a good amount of work. No tests at all though, so that was a plus. If you participate, he'll like you and it'll show in your grade.

Would not recommend this class as a freshman. You read books and then write papers on them which isn't too bad he's just a terrible person and a terrible grader. Make sure you participate it counts for a lot of your final grade, if you can drop the class it'll be beneficial for your GPA.

Loved this class...LOTS of reading, some pretty difficult stuff. Essays were pretty easy, tests weren't so bad. He knows so much about the subject and makes discussions really interesting, loved learning about the subject. Really fair grader. TAKE IT

This class has so much reading.. and you are tested on everything you read. He's a nice guy, and always available, however, he's strict and I did not enjoy learning nothing and just watching pointless movies in his class. Definitly would NOT recommend him

I learned so much in this class, but I had to work really hard. Spicer is very demanding and gives a ton of reading. Still I learned a lot from him. The travel course was awesome. Life-changing experience for me.

took the LC with him and the spring break trip to europe. loves german beer. hard grader and never really covers ANYTHING in class, but he's a nice guy, and knows a TON about the holocaust. be prepared to do a ton of reading.

Classes with Spicer were always difficult to sit through, and his papers and reading assignments were even more difficult, but walking away from his class, I feel like I've really improved my writing and my knowledge in history. Yet his spitting and focus on religion is a little extreme sometimes...

This guy teaches freshmen core classes and thinks that everyone is interested in hearing his stupid stories. takes himself way to seriously and does not realize that harldly anyone in the class is a history major. Way too tough of a grader, should quit teaching and focus on being a priest

HE PRINTED OUT HIS OWN BOOK OF MATERIAL FOR US TO READ! THE CUSTOM BOOK WAS 3 INCHES THICK! And as much as I hate to admit it, he challenged us to the point we actually improved ourselves to rise up to his challenge.
