Don't buy the book. Attendance isn't mandatory. Everything in the class is easy EXCEPT his exams. He includes more logic question than the actual mathematics portion which will harm your grade. Literally made a 100 on everything but struggled with the exams. Ended up with a C+. Get a great study buddy so you won't end up in my predicament.

He ended up getting very sick and another professor had to take his place (why I rated all 3) , but from what I could tell, he is very laid back, fun, and easy to understand. He got back to my emails quickly, sent out a study guide (for one quiz we got to take), and he is just a really likable guy. I would love to take a whole class from him.

class itself is easy and requires no work. homework and quizzes are easy A's, but as someone who had statistics once in high school and once in college prior, his tests were difficult and involved very little math, mostly applied understandings of definitions. i probably only got an A because i got lucky with my guessing on tests.

Like everyone else says, don't buy the book. He's an awesome person, but I don't feel like I've learned any practical statistics, which is kind of important for graduate school and upper division courses. Good foundational info though.

This class was amazing... I didn't have to study for the tests or quizzes and still made 100s on them all. Dr. May is such a good professor and he uses real-world examples to help you understand the math. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

Great professor! Don't buy the book, you won't use it. I took math 104 before psyc 211 and found that it was pretty easy because it repeats a lot of what's covered in 104. Professor May is just a great guy take him for this class!

I am horrible at math and am doing very well in this class! He teaches you in a way that is easy to understand and if you dont get it the first time he will teach it over and over. He gives study guides of exactly what is going to be on the test. Just practice doing problems like in class and you are golden!

You wont need the book, unless you havent taken a Stats class before. He tells you exactly whats going to be on the tests and quizzes (gives study guides). He can be unclear about stuff sometimes, but will gladly help you understand. Grades consist of 2 tests, some quizzes, homework, and a final.

Dr. May is awesome! This is the hardest psychology class that I took at CofC but Dr. May makes everything understandable and tests are only from his lectures. The only issue I had that was if I wasn't clear on something, he couldn't explain it in a different way so I had to ask a classmate for help! If you are going to grad school, take this class!

AWESOME! Don't like math, and I'd never taken stats, but he makes it so understandable. Always willing to reexplain what you don't understand. Hardly any homework (you won't need it, he'll make you understand everything), and attendance not required (I recommend you go, though-you'll want to take notes). Like everyone says, don't waste $ on a book!

Very nice and smart stats guy; very clear with what he wants you to know. DO NOT need to buy the book. He gives you all the notes you need which is what the test comes from. There are about 4 easy homeworks and 3 straightforward tests; no attendance policy but you have to get the notes somehow. Best professor to take for this class for psych majors
