Comment:

Dr. Maslin is decent grader. She grades on how well you construct your argument (and also if you speak up in class). She is a fantastic gender studies professor, but I have also enjoyed her classes not remotely pertaining to gender (i.e. POLI 210). She wants people to speak up in class, even if they are going to disagree with her.

Comment:

Maslin has taught me so much just through one of her classes, she is a tough grader but going to speak with her when you are having trouble is key to knowing what exactly you need to do to get a better grade. Very well respected professor and engages her students in the class in a way I have not had before.

Worst experience I have ever had. Taking her class single-handedly convinced me to switch my major from politics. Don't take her if you actually want to learn about research or if you plan on having different opinions than her. Grades based on how much she likes you. White feminist. Not really sure how she is tenured.

Prof has no grading criteria. Have had her for multiple classes, grades not based on writing skill but on how much she agrees with your ideas. Definitely not the only student who feels this way. Any politics or IR major not super interested in gender studies will probably realize that she's good at what she does, but not super smart in general.

Dr. Maslin is a gem. She is so passionate about teaching and creating a dialogue about gender here at Hendrix. I have learned so much from here, both in and out of the classroom. I highly recommend.

Dr. Maslin is a tough, but fair professor. She wants you to know the material that she wants to teach you. Sometimes that means the class is not as structured as you might like, but you learn vital political science information. She is no-nonsense and is well-respected at Hendrix. Definitely recommended.

DrMaslin is truly one of the best professors here. Underrated. She is incredibly helpful and is an excellent listener. She's insanely knowledgeable. Great role model for men and women. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is okay with getting off topic sometimes. I highly recommend her to anyone even remotely interested in politics or gender!

Genius. Great lecturer, great discussion leader. Sometimes her mind works faster than the class's and it's hard to keep up, but it's always fun. Yes, sometimes she lets you stray off topic, but you almost always feel like you're learning something.

Her tests are hard, and you really never know what's going to be on them. She's extremely unorganized; we'd get off topic literally every class and rarely discuss the homework readings at all. Her courses sound so interesting on paper, but the reality is much different, unfortunately.

Her class wasn't the most exciting class, but you can still learn a lot from it. Unfortunately it was at 9:45, and it probably would have been better in the afternoon. Make sure you go to class. Her midterm is MUCH harder than her final. Do EVERY reading when they're scheduled, it's impossible to catch up on them at the end of the semester.

As a senior Politics major, I would say that she is perhaps the best professor in the department and certainly the most underrated. Dr. Barth is good, but if you are primarily interested in American politics, get K-Mas to be your advisor!

It is clear that she is a very intelligent and well-read professor. She manages to add information that I never heard of before to topics that I know much about. However, her downfall is that she fails to realize that we are not as intelligent as she is. She loves to give us paper topics that takes days to figure out what the prompt is asking.
