It is hard not to like Dr. Rushing.He is creative in his teaching and knows how to produce an entertaining lecture.He uses blackboard and email so you are always informed on what he wants which is nice.You can be an A student through the papers but get a C in his class because of his journal system so keep that in mind. I would highly recommend him

Dr. Rushing is dry but very smart. He wants you to pay attention and work in the class. His classes are somewhat interesting. He responds to people who smile and are nice and interested in the class. Tough grader.

Simply the best when it comes to Communication. Do the journals. Do the assignments and you'll have a great semester with Dr. Rushing. By far my favorite at UTC. I have to say that I was somewhat worried before entering his class, but I am here to tell you that there's no sense in doing that. You'll be fine. He's exceedingly understanding.

A great professor and a great human being. Which is more than i can say about a lot of the comm department. In a department where a lot of teachers dont have your back, Rushing is truly there for his students. He ginuinely cares about you and your education. Take his class and be ready to learn. He expects a lot but it's nothing you can't handle.

He is the worst teacher ever. The description of the class in the catalog is nothing like the class. He gave me my 1st C ever. The worst part was he was the only teacher teaching it so I had no choice but to suffer.

He isnt clear on what he wants you to do and he never tells you why you make the grade you do. He randoms half the class period. You cant avoid him bc the teacher selection is limited- I want to wish you luck.

The subject itself was difficult, but I don't think Rushing did anything in particular to make it harder, he taught it well. However, the amount of work he expects is large and he is a tough grader. He was also my advisor though, and I have to say he is a great man and very helpful.

I heard bad things but I tried very hard to give him a fair chance - wasted my time. He plays favorites in no way based on intelligence or interest in the subject, he's very childish if you in any way challange him, you'll never get a grade back and won't have any idea how you're doing until you look at your RAP sheet at the end of the term.

You know I steered clear of him because I thought I was getting this really horrible vibe. Then I started the class and I thought: "Maybe he's not so bad." I was wrong. He tries to not realy cut you down in class but he really does it through his criticisms of your work. He doesn't help you. He just calls you an idiot.

L&E was relatively easy. The key is keeping up with notes and reading the parts of the book with key points. He tries to give us study tips (PIDIF), but, I hate to say, picks favs. Get your nose ready if you want an A. Also, he likes to talk about his daughter.

AVOID! He has a serious problem relating the material in class with the readings and the assignments. 450's research paper was just thrown at us, not once did he go over content/ what should go into the paper, but showed his no-life interest of his Mac by providing a really impressive template.
