I would not take any classes with this professor again. If you have already learned the subject on your own, then you will usually be able to follow most of what he does. He uses weird notation that he does not explain. Also, his tests are not very reasonable. He did not review for the final at all, despite it being worth 45%-60% of our grade.

Never take a class with this man ever. I REPEAT! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! If you need to take this class and can wait, DO IT!. He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Gives little homework that doesn't prepare you for tests, is unclear and over complicates and you learn nothing. AVOID!

He by far is the worst professor i've ever had. He teaches material that is not even in the book half of the time. He will get confused if you ask him almost any question. His tests have very little to do with what you learn in class. And dont even bother going to his office hours because he is even more useless there. Do not take his class.

Doesn't teach from the book, only does insane proofs that don't make sense. Everyone fails the exams because what's on them wasn't taught in class. If you don't do it the way he decides it should be done when he's grading it, it's wrong. There's no consistency with his grading on exams.

Absolutely horrible and hard to follow in Discrete II. He teaches some more advanced topics without referencing the book at all. His tests are stupidly annoying with most people getting bad grades.

I honestly haven't yet encountered a worse teacher in my academic career. He barely puts any effort into his instruction, and to get anything from it you'll have to work harder than he does. Avoid this man's courses if possible.

If you can get past the accent, the calc II course is easy to follow. He does follow the book, but math professors are expected to derive theorems in class. He does get a little hung up on the proofs but he did plenty of examples as well. My only complaint is his truancy and handwritten test questions.

If one were so inclined, they could learn an amazing amount of material from this class. It goes very in depth, traversing the fields of differential geometry on the way to multivariable calculus. Problem is, after a few lectures, you'll find yourself unable to attend. The lectures are overcomplicated and incomprehensible. At least tests are easy.

Far from the worst professor at UML, but far from the best too. Material is pretty easy, but professor has a hard time explaining it clearly and usually over-complicates it. Doesn't give much homework, liberal grader. Students should be able to teach themselves the topics to succeed.

Terrible at everything. Talks low with thick Russian accent so hard to understand. Doesnt follow the book, which is also very useless. We had to spend hours deciphering the notes to understand what hes attempting to teach. He is always at least 10 minutes late, doesnt explain where we are and talks to no one. I wish Doerr taught Discrete II

His accent is thick and nothing he says makes sense. He doesn't explain anything, just does advanced proofs on the board. Is always late to class, does not teach from the book. No review for exams, exam content too advanced for class and not in book. Hasn't given a syllabus, has no website or office hours and does not respond to email.

Discrete II. I dropped this course after two classes and from the grapevine of friends. This guy should be demoted. I literally could not understand a word he spoke. One day he comes in, expecting that you already *know* stuff that he never covered... Taking this course with Doerr or Levasseur. I can't believe this guy is allowed to teach.

Horrifying, thick Russian accent. Never does sample problems, but will do proofs till your brain hurts. Tries to get students to visualize 4 dimensional objects?! Extremely timid and talks to board more than students. Often takes time to gather his thoughts, then spits them out in rapid fire Russian. For the love of God, don't take this class.

Avoid. I often went through entire lectures without understanding enough even to formulate a question. Got an A in Discrete 1 so I don't think it was me. People just stopped attending class. Unreasonable application of concepts in exams. Imagine someone teaching you how to use a scalpel one day, and asking you to do brain surgery with it the next.

There are some pretty bad reviews of him on here, but he's not all bad. He does go off on tangents all the time (literally every class), but the material on the practice tests is usually almost identical to the real exams. Just learn to do those problems (on your own) and you'll do fine. I had similar experiences with him in Discrete II.

HOLY CRAP! Worst teacher ever. But really funny if you listen to what he says/writes on the board. For example: The GCD of 5, 15 is now 3. And 1 + 1 is 3. Remember if you ever get him, the conclusion is OBVIOUS. ... Right

I took him 4 years ago and he's still the worst prof I have had at UML. Late every day. Came in ith red eyes and didn't even look to see if he had a class present to teach. We seriously thought he was perpetually high. Seems to know his stuff, but completely inept at passing it on to others or fairly and accurately testing them. Avoid him!
