Dr. Myers isn't a bad teacher. Her class is very interesting and you may enjoy the discussions you will have. However, she has a very strict grading and attendance policy. I received a lot of 0's because I will turn in work late or miss class. You CANNOT make up these grades. No curves. Show up on time, turn in your work AT THE BEGINNING of class.

Dr. Myers is an amazing professor. she challanges you to think, but helps you to realize its for your own benefit. I wish I could have her for the rest of my sociology classes. if love a down to earth teacher, whos gorgeous and intelligent, take her!!!

Dr. Myers is awesome. Great at teaching, really funny and nice. Very understanding. You will have to do some actual work in the class but it is far from unreasonable. Bottom line...she rules.

I took her for 377A, Soc 357 & 495. She's a great teacher. There's a lot of work, but she's an easy grader and the material is usually interesting-sexuality, gender, etc. I love her, take her if you can. She's very reasonable, funny and she plays good movies.

Great teacher. Really quick wit. Wish I would have taken the class sooner. What she taught will benefit me in other classes, even outside of Sociology. You will definitely have to work for your grade, but she will give you the tools to get an A. She has a very solid grasp of the material. I'm sure other classes would be just as good.

I thought she was a good teacher. interesting to listen to and there are no tests. I never read any of the articles in the book, and i was able to follow along fine. the last two projects are more complicated, but not impossible. you do have to put in some work though, and if you do it is usually rewarded.

Prof. Myers is a really intelligent lady and really knows the material but with that being said, she talks to us like we all already know the material. She doesn't explain things well but expects perfection from us. She's a tough grader and will likely find something wrong to take points off. Nice lady but I'd recommend taking someone elses class.

It's a pre course for Soci majors/minors, but said anyone who accidently got in b/c of MyNIU was allowed to stay. I'm an English major, and only took an Intro course, two years ago. She teaches it like we all understand everything she's talking about - and I don't. And she doesn't explain half of anything.

Myers uses her qualitative statistics class as an outlet to preach her feminist theory. A good professor plays devil's advocate to tease out multiple viewpoints. Myers downplays objectivity, but at the same time treats feminist theory as an absolute truth. Students' jaws dropped as Myers made insensitive remarks about the NIU shooting in class.

Absolutely terrible experience with this professor. Staunch feminist that brings viewpoint bias into the data analysis class. Grading seems arbitrary, and it is nearly impossible to get a 10/10 on a homework assignment. Myers nitpicks down to handwriting and WILL find something wrong out of a seemingly perfect homework assignment.

Enthusiastic, helpful and unbiased. You don't need books. No exams except the final which was pointless. My only real gripe is the time givenfor the field project. We should have had at least two months to learn and complete this project, instead we had about three weeks. Other than that, I would certainly recommend her for this or any other class.

She. Is. AWESOME!!!! I would definitely take from her again! She presented the subject matter clearly, which was hard due to the fact this class was taken in a four week intercession... She adapted the class to fit the tight schedule....That should say something. She utilized blackboard as well as essays for grading purposes.

very helpfull teacher, wants the students to succeed and will help you out if your having trouble with anything. you can submit papers to her by email before they are due and she will look over them and tell you what is wrong and make corrections and send the paper back to you with the corrections. overall not a hard teacher at all and very helpf

Myers is the best professor in the soc department! She is hilarious, nice, and while the material is not always fun or exciting, her class is the highlight of my day. You can get away w/ missing several classes- she treats us like adults and not children. I couldn't ask for a better prof for Soc 280. She is always willing to help too.

Comment:

Myers is a great professor. She goes out of her way to help and give extra help if needed. Many people think her classes are difficlut and time wasting, but if you give an effort you'll be fine. She does give homework and workshops which requires an actually effort on your part, but I've never gotten less than an 'A' in any of her classes.
