Dr. Ciani is the sweetest professor I've ever had and she is very understanding and shows that she cares for her students!! The class itself is difficult and involves a lot of reading and there are quizzes each week over the readings. The class is overall a lot of work.

Great professor, LOVED the class with her. You have to read the textbooks and there are quizzes every week. The tests are essay, and there are a couple papers, but she will help you SO much if you go to her office hours

Dr. Ciani is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. Show up, sit in the front, ask questions, and go to her office hours. She makes an effort to get to know her students. She is always willing to help (especially with essay rough drafts). As long as you pay attention to lectures, take good notes, and do the reading, it will be an easy A.

Dr. Ciani expects a level of professionalism in her course, but she also is very accommodating if you need to miss class or you're not understanding the material. She also doesn't coddle studentsthis course is on the history of women in the US, and that includes sexual assault. If you don't want to read about that, then don't take the course.

Professor Ciani would make rude comments to the class all the time (especially to males). She plays favorites and is the worst teacher I've come across at ISU. I highly recommend staying away from any classes she teaches.

This course is really tough but Dr. Ciani is a really smart and passionate about the material, which makes the course more interesting. I enjoyed the material and I do really like Dr. Ciani. She cares about her students and their success. She inspired me to minor in WGS.

Every week you have reading assignments which can be sort of long and there is a quiz on each reading, you have to read to pass them. She is a pretty tough grader when it comes to the paper you have to write and the in class essay midterm and final. She also makes rude comments to students during class. But overall not a terrible class

To get a good grade A or B you HAVE TO talk to her about papers and exams before they take place. This is because she will tell you more in-depth on what she wants on the papers and exams. If you don't get or understand the topic you're going to be in trouble. She was a great teacher helpful, and interesting lecture.

She is very organized and very clear with assignments. If you want a good grade, you have to work for it. She is very helpful, so if you go into her office hours she will give you good feedback and she cares about her students. Work hard on the papers, prepare for the midterm & final, go to class and read the readings each week!

Dr. Ciani was an amazing teacher. I was not looking forward to taking this class, but she made it worth my while. As long as you keep up with the reading, go in and see her about essays, you should be good also everything is straight forward.Put in the effort and you will get a good grade. Great teacher, more professors need to be like her.

Worst teacher I have had in my 21 years in life! She defiantly picks her favorites in class after day one (all girls..) I don't know why she got into teaching she clearly is more concerned about her own research and not developing young historians.

Dr. Ciani is very passionate about the class material and is extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter as well. However, she can be very rude at times. Ciani is a very straight forward teacher. She expects you to try to do the best you can and says repeatedly that if you need help to come and see her. You definitely need the book for her class because she has a quiz every friday over the chapter you read. As long as you actually read you will be fine. Don't give her a reason to dislike you.

Ciani is a straightforward teacher with reasonable expectations for her students. Reading is a must if you would like an A in the class. Her lectures are interesting and you can tell she's well-prepared for them. She works hard to learn everyone's names and she will notice those who put in the extra effort into her classes. Comment:

She is a very clear teacher, and is sometimes funny. She's basically a feminist and has no issue talking about sex. She helpful, and her office hours clear up anything that wasn't clear in class. Shes's a fair grader.
