He goes over everything you need to know for the homework in class. Everything else you need to know is in the CPU reference and hardware datasheet PDFs (print these, you will need them for the exams). He wants students to do well and is willing to extend homework deadlines. He is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions.

Cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to pass. Homeworks can get tough because he doesn't give enough time for the harder ones, but he is lenient on deadlines. Struggles with English at times and makes mistakes in class, though he does try his best to explain and help you if you are stuck.

Overall a great teacher. Tends to make mistakes during class examples. If you attend classes regularly and show interest you will get a better grade then expected. Only downside are the projects take up A LOT of time and he does not give solutions.

he confuses himself in class quite a bit and his English is poor. His online homework and guides are poorly worded nor concise. He hugged the textbook prior to the first exam before he chose to use Xilinx as a lab in place of homework. He wasted class time trying to explain it and couldn't even do the homework himself.

He is a great teacher. He does want you to be able to know what he is teaching. The only hard part were the projects that built on each other without any solutions given. If you know how to program in VHDL this class is very easy.

Prof Choi is a great guy and he really tries to help students. If you go to class you will actually learn and not need to use the book...the way its supposed to be. The class is tough but he makes it easy. The one neg i have is he doesnt have much office hours but other than that I would take him for any other class.

Pretty decent class. Projects aren't too bad but fairly time consuming. Exams are tricky but you always end up with a better grade than you expected.

Great Professor! If you understand the examples he goes over in class and can do them on your own, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get an 'A' in his class. Homework takes a while, but helps understand tremendously. He is a great guy willing to help anyone with class or personal life issues. No reason you should get less than a B+.

This man can't teach basic level courses and thinks he is amazing. His tests are 10X harder than anything else you do in the class. and the xlinix homeworks were not helpfull in understanding the material.

The homework and projects are time consuming, but Dr. Choi is exceedingly helpful if you run into trouble. He'll sit down with you and work on a problem until you understand it. His lectures are sometimes a bit disjointed, but if you have a question he'll stop and re-cover a topic to ensure understanding.

You do not need the book for this class. Choi is a real nice guy. Exams are harder then he leads on. Watch out for pop quizes when attendance is low (fridays). Hw in this class is the main part of the grade and they can be time consuming. Often the hw instructions are not clear and sometimes choi will change them around after they are assigned

Nice guy Choi teaches many of the h/w courses. He's typically lenient, so kids like him. But he doesn't teach, he just assigns lots of unclear work. He also has a weird cult thing going on. Still, most CSE Profs are lousy. I'd never have listened to myself, but CSE majors should take courses they want and switch out to EE senior year and salvage..

Decent lectures usually. Homework is TIME-CONSUMING, but the exams aren't so bad if you did the HW. Having graduated from the department, he's easily in the top half, maybe even top quarter, of the department's profs. Not saying a whole lot, but a passing score = fantastic in the department.
