Maybe it was because it was his last year teaching but he was pretty easy. I got an A on the midterm and didn't have to take the final. He let us take home 3 map tests instead of in class. He really knows his stuff. I'm sorry he is retiring.

He failed me on an exam for which I had read and re-read (honestly!) the text and when I asked him "Where did I fall short of an A", he told me I would know if I read the book. When I compared my essay response to an "A" example, both contained all the same key points (mine had probably 23/24 out of 25 of the key points needed)

WORST PROFESSOR AT UMBC. Stear clear! seriously. Extremely biased in all of his lectures: very misogynistic, says polygamy is a MAN's RIGHT defiantly, arrogant, and degrades African Americans to no end. Doesn't grade based on work, but on whether he likes you or not. NEVER challenge him. Must agree with his views to get an A.

he is the worst professor ever. missed first week of class then second week came in 30 min. late, then expected us to write numerous papers on things we did not learn while he was away! had the nerve to tell us he was still on vacation in Africa! Still thinks he's in Africa..this is the USA! Get with it Lamouse...

One of the most difficult/annoying classes I have ever taken. He's not always straightforward on what's on the exams. He gets annoyed when you ask him questions and his answers are circuitous anyway when he answers them. I would recommend to stay away from this class.

has a thick accent, is very unclear & expects way too much. he talks in this monotonous heavy accent;ull fall asleep.wants ppl to speak out in class,yet hes intimidating and rude which deters ppl from doing it.wont answer questions, and even when he tries, its so circuitious you cant understand it.

Took him for African Religions, dropped the class after the 3rd class. The 1st class he lectured us on how every single infant is born with the inherent knowledge that there is a god, and told us that if we thought otherwise we were WRONG. Left nothing open for discussion; didn't need that crap.

Steer clear. I still remember when he said the final was going to be at one time and the syllabus said another time. The people that went with what he said got there an hour late and didn't even get extra time. Avoid taking him if you can.

I had Willie B. for comp. African religions and while he is one of the toughest teachers I have had, I learned a lot about the subject matter. He does expect a great deal of mastery of subject matter on the essays his map quizzes are a tad unneccesary.

I took Comp. African Religions with this teacher. Yes, he has a bit of an attitude, and he gives these very difficult map quizzes, but he seems to grade things on your overall effort and attentiveness. He expects a thourough effort for his essay exams.
