Really easy and fun class. Olsen is such a nice guy and he wants his students to do well. There are quizzes, no tests, and he only gives quizzes when he feels you are ready for it. However, you are required to go to 5 musical performances and if you don't you automatically fail the course.

Writing about the arts is an awesome class he teaches. 6-8 papers over the semester(that is it), but very short. keeps the writing assignments interesting, looks like a stern guy, but once you get to know him and listen to him he cracks jokes.critiques writings, but just wants to better your skills. be kind to him, and he will give it back 2 fold!

Olsen is a cool teacher who really cares. The basic point is if you're nice to him, care about the subject matter, and try really hard - He'll be the best teacher you ever had at Stockton. He challenges you not to memorize facts persay, but on how to become a better leader and thinker. Great class, take him!

As an Honors Teacher, Olsen is a great guy. He's an easy professor who cares about your success and growth as a leader & student more so than just memorizing facts and concepts. If you're a nice person and you try hard, you'll easily find Olsen as a great teacher and mentor.

I had Olsen for Aesthetics. The material is pretty he says, he says - it's all opinion on things relating to art, including beauty and taste. Some of the readings are challenging if you aren't used to Phil material. Olsen's a little dull at times, and hilariously dry at others. The tests were mostly take-home essays.

He is a nice guy but awful at teaching. He gets side tracked on topics that are at the end of the book and will ramble about them forEVER. Most of this class is spent talking about stuff you never need to know and won't be on any test. He gives quizzes randomly on stuff he barely taught. If you think its just an EASY g course, its not

Pretty cool teacher. Essays are easy- just write your opinion and you'll do well. Olsen's funny and has cool stories that relate to the coursework. He's pretty laid back but gets stuff done. Overall, it was a great class.

Easiest. Class. Ever. This guy is by far the best teacher at stockton. You show up if you want, watch movies most of the classes, all essays are opinionated, you could suck at writing (like me) and still get a high B on your assignments. Strongly reccommend this class.

He's an extremely intersting person and I enjoyed him for Aesthetics. The class was quiet and rather boring at times but he follows the mood of the class. If it became obvious to him we'd rather break of, even tangentially, into group discussions he would just let them go and help them along as well

give me a break, reguardless of what he thinks we do not care about his life, his kids lives, or anyone elses life that he may or may not know. gives essays not test even if u score 30/30 he will still give u a B if he feels like it. screwed my whole GPA because my opinion was different from everyone elses.

Philosophy is not exactly my cup of tea, but the course material wasn't difficult to understand. It's a lot of reading and he'll drop quizzes on you in the first couple of weeks to see if you're reading, but after that, you can slack off. Take home exams were lengthy and time-consuming, but fair. Coolest final ever. I got an A.

Wasnt a bad class and I feel that I learned a lot from Prof Olsen. At the begining he comes off as a hard ass but he really isn't. He does make you attend 5 performances at the PAC and if you don't u automatically fail the class. There are 4 tests and they are not easy no matter how much you study.He gives out extra points to help out with the test

Nice Guy, not an easy intro class if you don't study for his tests, and don't like music a lot. plays a lot of classical,opera,jazz,blues,foreign and more. Basically the newest music you'll listen to is from the 70's. Makes you attend 5 concerts in order to get any credit for the class and some of them have to be concerts held at the Stockton PAC

Great Professor. I had him for Writing About the Arts and he was VERY fair and the essays are pretty short and not too hard. If you aren't an excellent writer, don't worry...this is a fairly easy W1 course...not as stressful as most. I ended up with an A and I hate writing!
