Don't take this professor. He tries to confuse you and throw you off with his exams. To put it simply, he thinks a C is a good grade for his students.

Very knowledgeable on topics covered. 4 tests. First one weighs the least and they gradually weigh more each test. YOU HAVE TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. Very tough grader when it comes to short answer. If he doesn't see the answer he's looking for, it's wrong. Recommend recording his lectures. He does care about his students but you can't be lazy.

One of the best professors at WPU, hands-down. Knows the material inside and out and tells interesting stories (often funny ones, too) to help us learn the material. The tests are basically his PPT slides (which he puts on BB) and you have to stay awake and take notes on what he says/teaches. Pay attention, study and tests/quizzes aren't hard.

This guy's the worst. Tells the class he knows we're not all bio majors, so don't worry. Then makes all his tests and quizzes HAF. Doesn't give out a study sheet just gives you a bunch of random facts about the planet and expects you to remember it all. Don't take this guy.

Ecology. The material was straight forward, however the way he uses the material on tests is very tricky. Exams are all open ended questions, where you must be very detailed in your answer or it will be wrong. His tests are more like endurance exams than tests. They are LONG. However, Risley is a good dude and his class was entertaining.

Risley is by far THE greatest professor I have ever had. He cares about area of study and inspires interest. His pop quizzes will catch you off guard so be ware to keep up. His test are straight out of his notes for the most part but reading helps A LOT!! Seriously he is the makes and will get you wanting to actually study and do your own research

This guy might be knowledgeable, and he likes what he is teaching. Test are long, there are 50 multiple choice questions and 4-5 open ended questions. He uses power point slides for the lecture, and his slides are not the best. Don't be surprised getting low C's and D's after the long study hours. The class mean was usually around 60-65.

great guy, professional of his work. not a big fan of his pop quizzes, but besides that he is well organized. be willing to learn, and put effort in it. he wants everyone to do well. plus he makes his lectures interesting by telling a little story time to time which is good, that's not a systematic thing. bio dept is lucky to have him.

This is a good Professor to take if you are a Bio Major. If you are not and you are taking the course because is a science requirement, then take someone else. Lectures are ok but can be boring, cool guy. Test are not easy.

Risley is hilarious, he makes biology funny somehow. This class doesnt go into specific things, it remains pretty general, for the most part. Pay attention in lecture. He might put powerpoint slides on blackboard, which u need to study. He never curves. Beware of quizzes!

He's ok. Paying attention to class is a must because a lot of the q's from the test comes from the discussion. Doesn't realy give good notes cuz everything is shortcut, you need to make your own elaboration.

Hes an awesome guy if u want someone to talk and tell stories most the period. But hes not the best teacher for explaining things and his tests are relly hard. I thought having Patnaik for bio1 was bad but his tests are somehow harder then his. I think its cuz he doesnt explain things he just expects u to noe the notes.

I took BIO I with Gardner and got an A then I get to Bio II and barely pass. Risley's notes are really hard to study and he does not explain anything just expects you to know it by reading the whole textbook. I would recommend taking someone else if possible. He's nice but that isn't all that is needed to be a good teacher

awesome guy! definitely recommend him. funny nice clear helpful. 3 tests, w/ increasing weighted percentages. pop quizzes (not worth much of the overall grade at all and theyre useful)doesnt curve though but his tests are easy for a bio class. if you study the notes from class youll at least manage a B/B-...read the book too and youll do great

Had him for Field Biology. He makes the class fun, interesting, and involves you in the subject. The outdoor labs were really fun and the time seemed to fly by. If you can take him, do so. Tests are difficult, but if you study you should be fine.
