Professor knows the material and wants everyone in the class to get excited about Stats. He is kind of condescending and implies that students aren't trying even when they ARE. He had a sense of humor at times. If his personality were a little warmer, I might have learned a LOT in his class but I felt "inferior" and intimidated most of the time.

Had him yrs back-AVIOD AT ALL COSTS even if you have to stay in school another sem. He made people cry in my class and was not clear at all. Cant teach material at understandable level and will expect you to have the same understanding as him. Imagin the sterotypical mean football coach teaching stats and you have Larry Kitchens. If hitler was reincarnated as a Statistics Teacher this is the guy. The guy didn't give a crap about how his students did and frequently liked to point out those who failed tests IN CLASS and would proceed to bash them for trying to guess an answer. Hes retired, so your all lucky. b/c he sucked.

A hard teacher, but not a bad one. His attendance policy, before he changed it mid-semester, was the strictest I've seen, with every absence -5% from final grade. Explains fairly well -- if you do homework (graded irregularly), show up every day and work a bit, you'll do fine.

He is Satan in disguise... almost made me cry in class. Not helpful... ditto what everyone else said. Shouldn't be confused with his wife, though, who also teaches stats... and is apparently the opposite of him (meaning, a decent human being and good teacher.)

The man can be an ass and unless you make an effort in the class, he won't be much help outside of class. He is a very good teacher though. Pay attention, do your homework that doesn't have to be correct(just turned in) and you will be fine. We are in big school now people, quit whining.

horrible. They should give his paycheck to his class. we taught ourselves more than he did. I did my homework and went for help. He is mean and we all did bad on a test I had an anxiety attack bc of it. He will humiliate you if u get an answer wrong so dont answer in class.

Not really all that bad of a teacher. Knows his stuff. Just happens to be annoying and preachy. Acts like hes teaching highschool. About 20 minutes of class time is spent preaching about how stats should be the center of our lives and we are horrible people otherwise.

Dr. Kitchens is very unhelpful and expects you to know the answers to your own questions because he wrote the book.When you email him 3 days before something is due with a question he waits until after it is due to respond and then asks why you waited unitl the last minute. Stay away from him!!!

Stats is hard to begin with...he goes too fast through the book, labs/hw every night, and you pretty much have to teach yourself the stuff b/c he doesn't do a very good job of explaining
