Comment:

I took Geology at Harper College in 1972. Larry Knight was the instructor. It was one of the more challenging and interesting classes I had at Harper. Nearly 40 years later I remember much of what I learned, and utilize that knowledge to teach middle school students Earth Science. Learning is difficult, but worth the results

figured i'd give an update. Some of you were harsh by the way. he is very nice but extremely boring, their is no way your paying attention to his lecture without ridalin, willing to help you before or after class but be prepared to read the most dry book ever, i only took this class to get out of bio and chem but i think this class may be harder

People usually get really bored within the first week so most classes are just him talking the entire time. He never stops. Tests are really difficult, but he curves them. Very generously might I add. Make good use of the CD in the book. Many people don't know about it, but it helps a lot. Especially if you don't like to take notes.

This could be a really cool class if Mr. Knight didn't go on tangents all the time. He is a nice man, and really leneant when it comes to your final grade, that is if you attend most of his lectures. Only take him if your that passionate about Geo, otherwise stay away!

Mr. Knight is a very nice teacher, but if you are unable to teach yourself, you might not want to take his class. The tests are sort of difficult, but allows you to get half the points you missed on an exam. He also curves all the tests and lab tests. I hated Geology going in, still do, but his curves and extra credit make class less difficult.

HE was very nice, and very understanding, however, i think in this case him knowing so much is not the greatest of things, cuz i knew nothing about Geology, and took it, and still know NOTHING....very nice in terms of extra things he lets you do and lets u get alot of points back on his tests, but seriously, dont take him if dont understand geology

Mr. Knight - Geo 101 is interesting. There is something new to learn everyday and i always learn it somehow in geology. i am not majoring in it but its still kinda cool to see where stuff orginates and all that. sometimes its hard to follow the tangents, but if i'm ever confused i can always ask ya what you meant. :) Great job!

Mr. Knight is a good man, very respectable. He's talented and interested in what he does, however he really teaches you by repitition and constant review. You have energy, it's a breeze, if you have ADD, forget it.

Was a walk in the park for me cause I am a geology major. the one thing he could have is newer films he showed one of kilauea back in 1959 c'mon. it has been erupting scince 1983 cant we show something from then and now? The feild trips To braidwood were fu. digging around in the rocks..... Mr knight is well versed in Geology, He looks the part lol

i expected this class to be a walk in the breeze. Wrong. This guy is a talking book who will put you to sleep like its nothing.And if you think everyone who already wrote had it bad, i took the guy in summer school at 8 am. i had a d most of the semester and by some miracle i was able to come out with a B. it was my best surprise in college ever.

Test are hard but he gives you a chance to get points back. Lectures are boring. Fieldtrip was a waste of a day. Lets you miss up to 10 classes. But all around good guy.

Mr. Knight's lectures aren't going to pump you up, but he is very intelligent, gives study guides, and if you read the corresponding chapters, and work hard, an A is attainable. People complain about attendance being taken -- why did you pay for this class? Stop whining.

VERY VERY BORING...wears same Hawaiian shirt many weeks in a row. He always kept my class 10 minutes after it was supposed to be over so make sure you're not taking any "back-to-back" classes b/c you won't make it in on time. On top of that he takes attendance, his tests are extremely hard.

What a boring class, i know it's only hr and 15 min but it goes by like 4 hours so bring a pillow. He loves to pass around a TON of rocks, shows movies from late 60's don't sit next to projector you won't be able to fall asleep. He wil make you go on all day field trip to Joliet what a waste of time

very nice guy..eventhough his class is pretty boring. i was failing but i talked to him and he gave me tons of extra credit to do. its a really hard class..but with his help i got up to a c. hes a really nice guy..but dont take the class if youre not into working hard for the grade!
