He's an amazing professor. His main goal is for you to LEARN, if that means yelling at you for making a spelling mistake than so be it. I would much rather have a professor scream at me than be fired from my job. He is an amazing professor and easily the best in the CMM department! Attend every class and participate. He will love you!

He's a tough professor. He expects you to do the work, but we are in collge. In this class there are less journalism majors/com. majors, so he is less severe grading. If you show interest & put in effort, you'll be fine. He is understanding of the demands of college and if you talk to him he'll work with you.Very nice as a person. Really funny too!

Like mentioned before, you will get straight Fs for a while, but eventually you do get better. He is a good teacher in that respect - you will come out on top if you put the effort in. However, he makes it all seem like a big deal, slamming his fists and yelling and whatnot.. it's a little much.

At first you will wonder why the hell you ever thought to take his class because you FAIL everything. If you're like me, you'll think you're a great newspaper writer but think again. He opens your eyes in this class and you find out how bad your writing and editing is. You will learn A LOT if you take copy editing with him. I ended up with a C+

He is a really nice and funny man. I thought he was intimidating at first. He grades really hard from the begining. You will get D/F's at the begining maybe even lower! But you learn a lot and you will start getting better grades! Prepare to work hard and dont spell ANYTHING wrong or you will fail!

A nice guy, but unreasonable with grading. You learn a lot, but he gives no slack from the very beginning. Expect D's and F's and possibly a R. He doesn't have any sympathy and just when you think you've done everything right, he'll tell you you're wrong.

Dr. Lain is one of the nicest guys I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He's very passionate about writing and expects nothing less than professionalism in his class. I took freelance writing with him and there was no homework, only writing query letters on your own time. If you get the chance take Dr. Lain.

Nice man, but if you're late for class he makes a scene about it. Assignments are pretty easy, but he gives them to you at the beginning of the semester and does not remind you to do your work. Fun class, I learned a lot.

copyediting - he pretty much told us all to have no hope. i have yet to not fail an assignment. READ THE NEWS. KNOW WHERE THINGS ARE ON ALL MAPS. he is pretty tough here but hey, you get a taste of real life in the newsroom. take him hes pretty good.

i've taken just about every class he teaches, and gotten A's in all but copyediting - once you get used to hearing him tell the same stories over and over again, he's pretty cool :o)
