Comment:
I took Dr. Lichtenstein two semesters in a row for ECO 255 and ECO 256. If you go to class and take notes you'll be OK. He lets you bring a cheat sheet into exams, which is helpful. His lectures are very boring and hard to follow. If you can take a different professor, I would.

Do not take him if possible. You are graded on only 3 tests and they are all cumulative. Since they are so difficult, he grades with a curve and your grade is not a true reflection on what you've learned. Other than class time, you're on your own.

3 exams and participation are your grades. 20% 40% and 40% are what the exams are worth. He is kind of condenseding if you don't know what he's talking about he always reminds you you're going to be lost or you won't ever get it. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Take Hutton she is tough grader but she offers more grades to help you pass.

Dr. Lichenstein is one of the hardest professors I've had at Canisius. Your whole grade depends on 3 tests. I'm normally an A student in any finance/economics classes, and I was getting 70's and 80's on tests. He makes it very difficult to understand the material and gets mad when you don't get it. Wouldn't recommend if you care about your GPA.

Miss Class? He wont care. Email him? He wont answer. Call him? Left a message? He wont call back. Need help? His first option is a drop slip. Ordered the book? You'll only use it when you don't understand him, and on your own

I sat in that class every MWF and only missed one class, and I failed. I learned nothing in that class, despite trying to understand the material. He teaches really quick, so if you take a little bit longer to learn math, you have no chance of doing well, if you have ANY OTHER option for a teacher, take the other option.

I won't say this guy is as great as people make him out to be. He's nice outside of the classroom but inside it, he can be pretty intense with the material. Everybody learns differently but this guy will push you and expect you to learn the material fast. No stats teacher is a great choice here, but he's OK. 3 tests which are a little tough, and two case studies are the only things to worry about...besides him staring at those who make eye contact with him. You'll see.

Great professor. Very clear on what he wants you to know. There's no homework except for problem sets (which are not graded). He goes at a slow pace and really emphasizes on what he wants you to know. I have had him for 3 classes. Great professor and have recommended him to many of my peers.

You couldn't hope for a professor who more clearly expresses what he expects you to do for the exams, which are your only grades apart from participation. Repeatedly highlights important material, gives multiple examples. Problem sets are posted online and aren't graded but the problems are similar to the exams. Definitely take his class.

He is weird in his own ways but he knows his stuff. The material is common sense and if you don't understand it you shouldn't be in college. He clarifies material and doesn't throw any curves at you. It's an easy A if you have a brain.

Great professor-kinda snippy tho. Easy to understand and tests hold no surprises. They are simply everything we wrote down in class. Although attendance is not mandatory, I recommend it because it makes the class even simpler. Buy the book if you are obsessive compulsive, but otherwise don't bother; I haven't used it yet. Highly recommend him

Some comments say the class is difficult some say it's easy. It depend on your economic background. If you have some background in the subject or you are quantitative type - it's easy. If you haven't had an economics class before or haven't had a math class since high school - it's gonna be tough. He moves very fast!

Took for 255/256 and he is a great professor. As long as you prepare off of his optional homework sheets you will get at least a B on the exams. Class can get a bit boring, but it is statistics

Excellent prof. Clear, his tests are straight from the lecture notes, don't buy the book, do the problem sets and go to class and you'll get an A. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for both 255/256. :) I think he's awesome, he's also really nice outside of class.

Most of his exam comes from the notes. This class is so boring. Good luck taking clear note, as he moves very fast. He is an easy grader, show-up pay attention and you should do fine.
