Comment:

Very nice guy and got me to think of American politics in a new way. The things he taught regarding the mass media, institutionalized racism, neoliberal economic policy and the philosophy underpinning the U.S. Constitution were life-changing. Still, he falls short when it comes to illuminating the justification for any policy that is not far-left.

Comment:

Truly my greatest professor of my entire academic career. No professor has given me the respect and encouragement I need to succeed, like Larry. He's retiring and will only be teaching one quarter a year for five years starting this Fall. if you're able to take his class he will shift and broaden your perspective and send you into new horizons.

Not an interesting program, Larry focused on trying to shock students. Seminar's were onside. Lectures were taught w/o passion. Students could easily get by completing the large amount writing assignments which required only basic reflection of the reading. Steve Niva is a much better option when it comes to political science.

Comment:

Dr. Mosqueda has a unique and informed position on Political Science, Economy, and Media studies. While his lectures did require students to pay closer attention, which was apparently difficult for some, they proved to be well thought out and relevant. His classes are an excellent option for serious and engaged students.

Ok. Lectures rambled, seemed recycled. Lectures & readings hardly covered viewpoints differing from radical progressive/liberal. Seminars were bad, usually consisted of Larry giving anecdotes & having a conversation w/a couple of students. Assignments were flat, required no in-depth thinking, feedback short. Documentaries watched felt repetitious.

Larry is extremely smart, but taking his class i found him to be a little bored or passionless about his topics. he seems to be ready for retirement and tired of giving the same old lectures over and over. He is a fantastic teacher and lecturer, and there is not a more knowledgable teacher on campus, just be ready for a lot of work.

Larry is incredibly approachable, as well as amusing and generally easy to listen to. Took his Power In American Soc. course, was very enlightening and engaging. Lots of heavy reading, lectures were occasionally repetitive. Very left leaning and admittedly biased but justifies it in his work and accepts criticism.

Professor Mosqueda is a interesting person to say the least. He tends to be on the lazy side, when it comes to grading or following up with things. Though, this may just be because he gets busy a lot with other priorities. Overall I feel he is a intelligent professor, hes opened my eyes. He is pretty consistent and has some interesting topics. Larry is dedicated and he knows his stuff. Very well organized. Does not seem to have pets or class favorites like some profs do. He runs a good seminar. His expectations are very clear. A lot of reading! He says a lot of funny stuff but in rather subtle ways that go over a lot of students heads. Really enjoyed his class!

Larry rules! He's one of my favorite professors at Evergreen. You will learn an immense amount and be challenged. Not to mention he is completely cool and has a great sense of humor. He's not all uptight like a lot of teachers. He's reasonable and inspiring, and leads the best seminar around. I can't recommend him highly enough. A+
