I had Larry for his phonetics course. He was 1 of the 2 best profs I ever had. I'm a far right-winger (obviously he is not!) but I always enjoyed his personality and humor. His passion for the Russian language is legendary and his ability to break down the complexities of Russian phonetics is unparalleled. His son inherited his sense of humor!

Larry Richter is the best teacher Ive ever had. Ive learned so much from him the past year that I doubt I'll ever have so much respect for a teacher. His humor is crude, but you get used to it in a few days. If you have thin skin don't even bother talking to the Larr, but if you can handle it, he'll be the highlight of your day.

Oh Larry. He is a quite simply put a jerk. Makes fun of students but not in the good way. Also, he has an extreme inferiority complex. Watch out if you are a native speaker in his Russian class. He will look to prove that he speaks better then you (in which he will probably succeed).

Although a very funny man (I disagree with the other reviewers - Richter is funny), Larry Richter is an awful professor. I truly learned nothing in his class except how to memorize English phrases and identify the first word of Russian phrases that correspond to said English phrases.

I can't say enough bad things about this guy. He is downright rude, mean, and offensive. Maybe he THINKS he is funny. I left that class knowing less than when I entered. We never spoke Russian in class, we just learned silly trivia. If you asked for help he simply insulted you (and NOT in a cute witty way). I quit studying Russian because of him!

Yeah, some people are impressed with someone with more balls then them. Most who took Larry's class end up that way. "He's so cool, he says what he wants." I'm assertive too, but I govern it better than this man, who is more than forty yrs older than me. If you're taken wit his attitude, get a life.

Larry has too much to prove. He suffers from insecurity that governs his activity. He brings his personal life into the classroom. Above all, he has little respect for students. If he had to survive in the real world, he wouldn't be so rude.

Just Don't. Although Richter is a fairly decent teacher, he is incredibly obnoxious and self-involved. If I ever see his name on my schedule again, I'm switching majors.
