Very clear on some things. I did learn a lot. Not too fond of his teaching methods or grading methods. His final project "Hunger Games" grading method is pretty messed up in my opinion, but the material was very interesting nonetheless.

Indifferent about actually creating a class with a structure. Told a single student at his office after finals were over that he did not do the +/- system used at the school, even though his syllabus all year indicated that he did, and he did not communicate this to the class. Nothing short of a dope. Impossible to contact outside his office. Avoid

You better teach yourself! Get copies of old test because that is only way you will pass.

The best way to study is to have the old tests. Questions are very similar if not the same. Paying attention in class isn't very useful, but occasionally problems from class end up on the test. The book is also not very useful except for homework. However Dr. S makes himself accessible after class

I stopped showing up for class after the 3rd or 4th week after it was apparent that anything he said in class was not relevant to what we were tested on. The only way to pass this class is to get the old tests.

I was bored in every class. Try doing some demonstrations or being even a little excited about engineering. It continues to amaze me how engineering teachers at our school can make the material so boring. There are so many things that professional engineers can do- why not try to show the students instead of deriving boring and long formulas.

Horrible boring uncaring teacher. His tests are impossible and long. His lectures are irrelevant to everything else in the class.

Horrible teacher. I am going out of my way to write this. Only way people pass that course is by cheating and getting the old tests. His in class examples have nothing to do with the HW or the tests. Not helpful either, told me to not spend as much time on the class when I asked for ways to improve my grade. If you find old tests they're the same

His teaching style is self indulgent...his office hours, if he feels like or gets around to talking to you, is about the same. You are truly and really just a statistic to him in this class. It becomes clear during the exams that he doesn't even communicate well with his minions that are suppose to be helpful or actually put his exams together.

I didn't learn much from his lectures due to the fact that his examples are all problems that he makes up which are barely related to the textbook examples and the fact that he never uses numbers in his examples. I learned much better by reading the book and doing their example problems. His tests always have mistakes in them which can hurt scores.

Absolutely sucked. Earned a B but he was a real jerk about it. did not want me to make a good grade. if you aren't on his good side he will destroy your exams. you're better off teaching yourself. his book is aweful. it's not worth the paper it is printed on. Howard was nice to me even though I was not enrolled in her class. take her if you can.

Ok, this guy is clear when he talks in class, but when he required us use his unfinished textbook that HE WROTE, it made everything go bad. Poor quality made it 50% legible, and the hand-drawn problems were often illegible and full of errors. "Helpful" pdf files were just as confusing!Avoid this guy for 2 semesters because of his book!

He wrote on a small whiteboard in front of a large lecture hall. He speaks clearly, so everyone in the room can hear, but it's hard to see the board if you can't get a good seat in the room. He derives the formulas before using them, so you can see where they come from. That being said, you'll like him better if you're more mathematically-minded.
