He is easily distracted and gets off topic alot of the time. My final grade was a B on CUNY BlackBoard calculated correctly and he "accidentally" put a C on my transcript which severely brought my GPA down, still has not corrected the issue. Definitely need to work for your grade.

He's a really good professor, all his teaching is lecture not power point, which i like. You need to come to class everyday though, or you will miss out a lot of the things that are discussed. Take really good notes, and listen well. He has sources for you to read so you can back up the information you had written for your test.

Lauer tries to be funny, but he isnt all the time, his hand writing is really bad, and sometimes he can be annoying, but truth be told, he knows his history to the T and as long as you do the readings you'll do well. He doesn't care much for attendance as long as your doing well on your exams. If your mature you can handle him and his class.

Professor Lauer was a humerous and funny history instructor. The only issue is most of his lectures were off topic information and irrelevant to what we were learning about. You have to keep up with the readings in his class. His handwriting on the board is very disorganized and unclear. Overall he is an mediocre professor who knows his history.

He's the worst professor you can imagine. He doesn't know how to transition from topic to topic. His entire teaching style is incoherent. He only gives two exams throughout the semester plus the final. He doesn't give extra credit assignments. Wouldn't recommend him to anyone taking HI-110.
